Mum showing up unannounced - have I been unfair?

I got as far as this post and it seems to me that the OP may be winding us up.
Imagine, in this day and age, leaving your door unlocked when upstairs sleeping or whatever!
I don't care what anyone thinks, it is an automatic thing, to be safe indoors.
Ridiculous this. And I don't believe anyone could leave ANY door unlocked, unless they are in view of it, if you get me. Ah here...must be a joke.
Depends how young (no actually, how passionate no matter what their age) the couple and how quickly their senses overcome them...
One moment you are in the view of the door, next that is your last thought in the world...
Passion. I can see how it happens occassionaly..
Edit: Wish it happened to me a bit more often:rotfl:;)0 -
I struggle with this being genuine, do people really leave outside doors unlocked, why? This time of year is cold so not out in the garden that much surely? Anyone could come in, would rather it was my mum than a burglar or the mad axe man.
The bigger question is why isn't the door locked? Even more reason after the first walk in, it doesn't make any sense.0 -
We leave our doors unlocked through the day if there is some one in the house or garden, which there pretty much always is. . We don't even have a proper back door fitted, Just a pallet with a tarp and some cardboard and bubble wrap

Your post really made me smile!
Of course passion is of the moment. But honestly, leaving your BACK door unlocked these days is totally ridiculous. IMV of course!
I wouldn't care how passionate things were, I would turn the key in the door before enjoying the moment, otherwise, I would be thinking of someone getting in the house, and then of course my passion would disappear!0 -

We do during light hours... it depends on the area and neighbours I think.. my neighbours even report when my FIL has been to mown the lawn!! And during the day when we are at home we are right next to the door..
I do keep the back door locked, only because I am not using it much so there would be danger leaving it unlocked when I am actually out..0 -

What, so overcome by passion that they forget to lock the door 3 times?!
We're like, door locked? Curtains shut? :rotfl:0 -

We certainly don't bother to shut the curtains during the day if we are upstairs. We are not overlooked as we are not in a row of houses...why would we?0 -

Well, yes...
We don't do any of that... but then we don't get so suddenly overcome by passion too often and we wouldn't think of it because no one would walk on us!! Or has never done yet.:rotfl:0 -
It's just good manners to let people know you're on the way. That's all, good manners, and consideration for others.
I do accept that in the case of elderly or ill relatives and friends, things may be a bit more impromptu, by necessity.
Otherwise, a txt or call is the height of good breeding and manners. And it doesn't matter whether it's Mum, Dad, or whoever.
However, some are quite happy to have people pop in unannounced at any time day or night.
Others, myself included would shudder at that. I love having people call in, but like my privacy too. Even if it is just to make sure I have enough milk in for the cuppa, and the clutter all over the hall is out of the way in case someone breaks their neck!0 -

Who's talking about going upstairs? What about downstairs in the living room?0
