Visit to local English Aldi today. I never saw any card signage inside or outside the store, however I did notice this on the back of my receipt.
Some logos but no clues as to whether these refer to credit cards or not. Whichever way, I was unhappy to use my card as there was no shield on the chip&pin terminal. When I pointed this out I got a half-hearted apology from the assistant.Just broke, even.0 -

Was it the Aldi store in Berwick Upon Tweed by chance please ?0 -

I assume you have 2 hands? In which case, what's the big deal? If you don't then I'm sure the sales assistant would have happily used theirs to block people's view.0 -

Of course that post might not have been official. Since it was removed, I'm guessing there was something wrong like the IP address of the poster matching another poster on here, or maybe they requested proof of who they were and didn't receive any?
Either way, I'd take what was stated in that post with a pinch of salt.0 -

I normally hold my wallet in my left hand and use it to cover the terminal, but in the case of Aldi, I find paying with cash easier. Give them a pile of change and the amount of time it takes them to check it, I can be packing my bags rather than being told to throw it into the trolley and move it.0 -

This is pure complaining for the sake of it & just looking for something for someone to have to apologise about. As had been said you don't need a shield to cover your pin it doesn't take much to cover it if you're really that concerned.0 -

On this occasion I was concerned enough that I paid with cash. I follow the advice from my bank when it comes to C&P, although most of that is common-sense.
"Remain vigilant and do not allow yourself to get distracted when using your card and PIN at an ATM or when making a purchase in a shop. Remember, always shield your PIN and take your card promptly".
You may think that advising the cashier of a C&P security issue is complaining. I'm not prepared to have my PIN compromised by poorly maintained C&P terminals or shoulder surfing.Just broke, even.0 -

Then shield your PIN as your bank advises. Use your body and other hand to do so. It's really simple to do.0
