Yet a recent Verdict poll, as communicated in Retail-Week indicates that more and more consumers are switching to Aldi (and accepting their payment terms). Their market share has increased to 4.3% according to Nielsen and they have 500 stores now.

Back your claim up with sources.

Let's face it - if you enter a shop of any description, you agree to their terms and conditions. Those conditions being payment method.

You are totally perplexed into believing that you correct - just re-read this whole thread. You will quickly notice that you are practically on your own with your thoughts on this.

Move on, try another shop. Your purchases at Asda will probably cost you £5-6 more per week, but at least you'll get your £2 cashback.
A very good point but how are we supposed to know what Aldi's policy is on credit cards when they do not display that they have banned their use. Aldi's signs are very unclear about which Debits cards they will take. If Aldi have clear signs then we can make an informed choice.

Aldi's won an award from WHICH but when I contacted WHICH they were unaware that Aldi's refuse to accept Credit Cards based on UK geography.

because Amex is a different agreement.

when a retailer starts to accept Credit cards, they will be offered the standard agreement that will cover Visa and Mastercard, but they they will be offered another agreement if they want to accept Amex which is a higher % rate.

Oh I know but I was just saying that at least they have some kind of credit card agreement and a lot of corporate cards are Amex, so it helps. I also bet Costco get a really low rate from Amex as its the only card they take.

I'm sure Aldi could come up with some special Acquirer/network agreement with Visa, MC or Amex and get a really good rate one of the networks. (Like Sams Club has with MasterCard in the US and one of the retail chains in Australia)

Aldi accept my Credit Card I am right.

If the disagree with me then does this mean that Aldi think the customer is always right

Put it this way with credit card charges a recent survey showed that if you went to a petrol station and paid for £10 of fuel with a credit card the owner of the station would make a loss. But if the person also bought a bar of chocolate he would make a small profit.

Our local petrol station is quite strange in that regard. If you buy £60 of fuel and pay with a credit card, its more expensive if you don't buy the chocolate bar. The chocolate bars are like 79p (Quite expensive considering they are about 55p at newsagents), but the overall bill is about 10p cheaper then if you didn't buy the chocolate bar due to the fact they give you discount on your fuel if you buy something from the shop.

So why not shop at Tesco, Morrisons or Waitrose Asda instead of Aldi?

Let me guess, because your average bill will be less at Aldi compared to the big four supermarkets? So therefore those big four supermarkets are making more profit and thus are willing to take a hit to provide support for credit cards.

Considering that Tesco have 30% market share, they can also afford to run their own payment processing centre, further reducing costs.

and you forgot Sainsburys with 16.6% of the market.

    A Good Point
I think Aldi should consider trying to take some of Tesco's 30% and Sainsbury's 16% by accepting credit cards.....
1 They should start believing the customer is always right.
2 They should stop printing pallet loads of booklets telling us about welding rods on special offer adding to the UK litter problem..

The typical demographic that uses Aldi to shop (for everything) are not the demographic that typically have wallets full of credit cards.

Therefore, that and the high processing fees combined mean that it makes no sense for them to accept credit cards.

    What is a Demographic ?

    What Demographic are you ?

I'm interested in saving money Thats why i use the MSE site.

That's never going to happen, especially not just by accepting credit cards.

    1. Not accepting credit cards says nothing about their customer service. They don't accept Paypal either.
    2. This shows how dim your view on things is. Printing things doesn't add to our litter problem. People throwing them on the floor does. If they are recycled like they should be, it's win win all round.

I get the veg i can't grow from a local market trader. He doesn't accept cards of any kind. Know what i do? Take cash.

    Also, OP is CLEARLY trolling.

Not really. If my business was in the USA, i could get a CC merchant account for FREE with a very low 0.01c per transaction, but in the UK like everything the charges are OTT
