LIDL don't accept credit cards either.
I was in a local store and produced my Mastercard Debit Card to be told ''we don't accept credit cards''. ''Its a debit card'' says I ''Its a Mastercard so its a credit card'' says the till operator.
''I don't have a credit card'' says I - ''can we check with your duty manager''
''Yes'' - over he walks grinning and shaking his head ''Its a debit card'' says he - laughing.:rotfl:
Confusion now between till operator, customers queueing as to why he was laughing. Duty Manager said out loud ''Its OK its my Dad''
Staff have been rebriefed - :rotfl:0 -
Aldi have a sign which says "WE ACCEPT MAESTRO, DELTA, VISA, ELCTRON, SOLO."
Nothing mentioning geographic bans on Credit Cards
So you attempt to pay with your credit card, and when they say "Sorry, we don't accept credit cards", you say "Ok, I'll pay with my debit card then" or even "here's some universally accepted cash"
I really don't see what the big deal is. They don't accept CC, big deal, pay with something else or shop somewhere you can use your CC.Just wondering what would happen if you said no, and let the cashier process the transaction with your credit card, and see if it goes through?
It was rejected 3 times (hence the cashier asking what type of card it was), I don't think trying a 4th is going to make it go through.0 -

So if they said they accepted credit cards for goods upto the value of £13, they could actually save money. I don't normally spend more than £10 so it's actually costing them more money to process my debit card.0 -

Nope I currently pay a lot less than 50p and I will not be paying 55p come January. I have no idea about the gobbleygook nonsense after the close bracket.0 -
Never understood companies that moan on about card fees. Handling cash costs money too. You have to pay for Securicor to collect the money to bank and deliver coinage (which also costs money). Aswell as pay cash office staff to count the money. Added insurance premiums, etc.0

Not very professional to humiliate your staff in front of other staff and customers.0 -

I cannot point to legislation but i can point to Tesco, Morrisons, Waitrose Asda who are successful supermarkets who take credit cards.
I can point to ALDI not being customer focused
I cant point out Aldi's mantra, "The customer is always wrong "0
