Do Aldi accept Credit Cards/Cheques/Healthy start vouchers?
Aldi stores accept cash, Maestro, Delta, Solo and Electron card only. Visa and Master Card credit cards are accepted in Scottish and selected Welsh stores only. In line with many other retailers we no longer accept cheques in store.
This is from the Aldi website.
It's a shame they don't put this in their stores in England apart from Berwick upon Tweed.
well our local store has the information on their entrance door and ceiling hanging signs at the till points, so if you cant see them then how did you manage to make it to the store.0 -
also when you goto to most high street stores and read the label on the door about their cards it will say something like " paying by CC costs 2.2% which is included in the price of goods" so therefore even if you pay my Cash you are still being charged the 2.2% processing charge. so by a store not taking CC they dont have to increase their prices to cover this charge, so therefore a benefit to customers0

If they accept the Tweed as the Scottish/English border then the main part of Berwick is actually in Scotland.Berwick Upon Tweed is not on the border is is south of the border "down England way". only just but south of the border in ENGLAND.earthstorm wrote: »WRONG, i trade in Berwick, so know the border, This has been a major issue for years in if Berwick is Scottish or English, hence Berwick Rangers playing in Scottish league
OP is right on this bit at least - regardless of all the history, the actual definitive current boundary is about a mile north (and west) of Berwick, so the town is clearly wholly within England, regardless of the river, the football club and the views of some residents, politicians, etc!0 -
A very good point you made there. If your figures are correct then even more reason for Aldi to accept credit cards the cost would be minimal to them and may bring in more customers who choose to use credit cards.
I do not think that Aldi will make a financial loss by accepting credit cards at all.0 -
How about me? I am the customer and I don't want to pay extra for the privilege of being able to pay by a CC. As their margin is much slimmer that at other supermarkets this would be an inevitable result of starting accepting CCs.
Am I right?
You are wrong It will not be inevitable more successful stores don't have a problem accepting credit cards.
What is Aldi's profit margin please ? How do you know its slimmer than other stores ? If the margin was slim why do aldi have a geographic ban why not remove from all stores ?
Aldi have recently addressed their poor customer service and have introduced a new customer complaints section but it still has problems.
Their customer service number is an 0844 none geographic too. Aldi make it expensive to complain via telephone and they may even get money from the 0844 number. If it was geographic number it would be free for me to call using virgin media land line. I use saynoto0871.0 -
You logic is flawed. I am happy to pay by a debit card, but if they start accepting CCs, I'll start using my credit card instead that pays me 3% cashback from the proceeds of ripping off the merchants. So will many (most?) other customers.
So you are happy for Aldis Scottish, parts of Wales and Berwick Upon Tweed customers to get up to 3% cashback (if they do ) and you get nothing and you pay the same prices as the Scottish, parts of Wales and Berwick Upon Tweed customers ? So you and I are losing out possibly ?0 -

Berwick Traders Association class Berwick as a Scottish town and adhere to Scottish laws.
And by the way i am not Scottish and am in Northumberland, but trade at various events in Berwick0 -
I too am livid with Aldi. I went shopping there the other day and they refused to accept my two chickens and an old watch as payment for my groceries!!
