I shop regularly in Aldi. I use a debit card or cash. I would hazard a guess that 60% of shoppers there don't own a credit card, shoppers in Aldi tend to be people who have to budget very carefully and don't have access to credit facilities. I think Aldi are very in tune with their customers and their lifestyles.0

You are wrong It will not be inevitable more successful stores don't have a problem accepting credit cards. What is Aldi's profit margin please ? How do you know its slimmer than other stores ?If the margin was slim why do aldi have a geographic ban why not remove from all stores ?Aldi have recently addressed their poor customer service and have introduced a new customer complaints section but it still has problems.Their customer service number is an 0844 none geographic too. Aldi make it expensive to complain via telephone and they may even get money from the 0844 number. If it was geographic number it would be free for me to call using virgin media land line. I use saynoto0871.So you are happy for Aldis Scottish, parts of Wales and Berwick Upon Tweed customers to get up to 3% cashback (if they do ) and you get nothing and you pay the same prices as the Scottish, parts of Wales and Berwick Upon Tweed customers ? So you and I are losing out possibly ?0

Do you shop at other supermarkets with your debit card cash and maybe a credit card.? If you shop around then you will know that Aldi are certainly not the cheapest.

Do we need a subject access request ?0 -
I don't care about the success. My
No, I am not happy to subsidise Scottish customers indirectly. I'd be happy if they stop accepting CCs in Scotland.
You have made a very good point . Are Aldi Customers in England and Norther Ireland apart from Berwick Upon Tweed indirectly subsidising Aldi customers outside of England ?0 -
If this was Twitter, Berwick-upon-Tweed would be trending today.0

Out of genuine curiosity how do consumer rights compare in the USA (Thinking S75 and IVA's etc. here)?0 -
OP is right on this bit at least - regardless of all the history, the actual definitive current boundary is about a mile north (and west) of Berwick, so the town is clearly wholly within England, regardless of the river, the football club and the views of some residents, politicians, etc!earthstorm wrote: »Berwick Traders Association class Berwick as a Scottish town and adhere to Scottish laws.
And by the way i am not Scottish and am in Northumberland, but trade at various events in Berwick
In which case I should update my post to: the actual definitive current boundary is about a mile north (and west) of Berwick, so the town is clearly wholly within England, regardless of the river, the football club and the views of some residents, politicians and the Berwick Traders Association, who, to the best of my knowledge, don't actually have any legal rights to redefine national boundaries!0 -

Therefore, that and the high processing fees combined mean that it makes no sense for them to accept credit cards.
How out of touch are you !
' A retail research company, has calculated that last year 12.9 per cent of Aldi’s regular customers were from the A B socioeconomic group – what most people would call “middle class”. That figure has leapt to 18.6 per cent this year.' http://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/10412195/How-Aldi-won-the-class-war-and-became-the-fastest-growing-supermarket-in-Britain.html0 -
I'm amazed at Aldi customers in England getting such a poor deal. Next thing you'll be telling us you don't get the 30% off at weekends either!
Aldi are on the rise. Latest figures had them up quite a bit in market share with Sainsburys being the only big four supermarket showing a rise.
It isn't just on price either. Their fresh produce; meat, veg and fruit beats everyone else on quality in my opinion and where possible is almost exclusively Scottish / British.
They are currently selling four pomegranates for 99p. You'll be lucky to get one for that anywhere else.0 -

But, for me, no credit card cashback = pomegranateless diet.0
