but as an ALDI store manager told me their system is NOT set up to handle voucher which for anyone IS NOT CASH,so cant be added as cash as for Audit and Tax purposes, the tax man would want to know where the £30 is.

I have just realised, has your Aldi store manager compromised Aldi security by passing on this information to you ?

Especially as you have discussed this thread with him.

Did he give you other information which could be considered a breach of trust , Security, jeopardising the safety of customers and staff ?

Surely Aldi security should be taking this manager to task?

Please contact Aldi HQ and pass on this information as soon as possible.

Will you be visiting this store again to buy some more pies soon ?

The thread is all over the internet, hardly compromising anything.

Are you resorting to insulting people now?

well llke any epos system they state you pay with £20 CASH which will show on the receipt, but as an ALDI store manager told me their system is NOT set up to handle voucher which for anyone IS NOT CASH,so cant be added as cash as for Audit and Tax purposes, the tax man would want to know where the £30 is. it would have been simple for the HQ to add a barcode to any vouchers, as the one that is on that letter, i could reproduce and hand it in at any Aldi as how could they check if it was genuine if the tills are not set up to accept vouchers.

The above highlighted is not true.

Taxation is based on profitability and not on cash collected. Profitability is based on an accruals basis and not a cash basis. HMRC don't care what, if any, level of cash Aldi collects.

So if they are not set up to handle vouchers, how do you explain this:

They are also having a current facebook promotion, and guess what they are giving away?
    10. There will be 35 winners in total, five for each day. Each winner will receive a £20 voucher to spend in Aldi stores.

Thank you for your contribution on this. Maybe you or another would be able to answer this question please ?

If Aldi accepted credit cards and say they pay 3% to the card company would Aldi be able to claim back the tax they may have paid to the card company based on the level of tax they pay to HMRC ?

What I'm trying to say is say Aldi pay £3 out of £100 to a card company as commission or what they call it and for the sake of arguing, Aldi are paying 50% tax rate to HMRC would Aldi in fact only have to shell out £1.50 ? They get a refund on profit money they have used to pay the commission with ?

Yes, that is correct. So if the £100 was all profit and collected free of charge then they would pay £50 to HMRC and keep £50 for themselves. If they only received £97 net of CC fees then they would pay over £48.50 to HMRC and keep £48.50 so in the end it is only a difference between the two of £1.50.

Similarly, your voucher only cost them £15 in this scenario!

    Thank you for this

So in essence the cost of Aldi using a credit card is redeemable even if they used a paypal terminal and paid 3% would is really minimal anyway considering they could advertise this new opportunity to potential customers and existing customers.

I think they would benefit and if they were public spirited enough they could sponsor a University at Berwick Upon Tweed.

University Aldi Berwick Upon Tweed = UA BUT

Maybe they work in a school??

Anyway, your insistence at calling anyone who disagrees with you a troll is not doing you any favours especially when it would appear that they are right and you are wrong.

Just admit it Aldi DO take vouchers.

You are getting as obsessed about vouchers as the OP is about credit cards.

PS replying to a post with a different view point (either if it is correct or even if it is wrong) is not trolling, it is called debate.

I do not consider i am obsessed with credit cards in one years time my Santander Credit Card will become chargeable and i will close the account.

Before I does I will be monitoring MSE to find a similar a or better deal with a Credit Card company.
