I think everyone is entitled to believe in ghosts, and the paranormal and aliens and indeed oujia board activity, and people are equally entitled to think it's all hogwash. However, there is absolutely no need to be rude to people who do believe, and imply they're morons/weak/stupid/gullible fools.
Yes I take on board that many mediums (not all, but many) are fake, and the fake ones (IMO) are the ones who take money for their readings and 'connections' to peoples loved ones. And maybe many paranormal experiences and suchlike, may be easily explained with a rational and logical answer.
However, nobody has any right to sit in judgement and basically laugh at people for their beliefs. It's just rude. To say that THEY don't believe, and then to go and mock anybody who 'does' believe, is very narrow-minded and rude IMO.0 -
MrSmartprice wrote: »Yes, he did. He talked about 'putting his hand on his heart and swearing on the bible.' The sort of thing you hear from an 8-year-old. The rest of the drivel just confirmed it!:p
From an '8 year old' - used for decades in Court - get real.
It was a valid, expression to show he was telling what happened, rather than making up a story. He you chose to not believe - that's up to you. But I not you prefer to ridicule - rather than stop and think - maybe things happen that aren't logic or easily explainable!!I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -
It is easily explainable though...0

If Ouiga boards 'worked' they'd be on sale in the pound shop and every home in the land would have one..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

You want an explanation, so I will suggest the obvious one. People who get involved in any of this spiritualist stuff are desperate to hear what they want to hear, so they are likely to imagine that they do so. It is all within the mind, whether it is spirits, religion or whatever. There are no such things as 'spirits' and you cannot speak to dead people, even though people have been trying for centuries. The clue is in the word 'dead'.
I think you have a valid point regarding people wanting to hear what they want to that is why religion was born, it helps people in desperate times. however lets talk about imagination as you mention the word. in my opinion I can imagine but how do I influence 6 people to imagine the same thing how do I get a person to write something down on a piece of paper as I have said in the reply before and everyone see it? 3 words were written down 'father and son' how did I get 6 people to imagine the same thing and get one of those to write it down?
Ive said im a non believer, but im also open minded, also by saying puttinfg my hand on my heart I was saying this to suggest to you that i am not a liar, believe me telling the truth is much more fun than lying.
i do beleive that there is some kind of influence going on but im not sure I understand it.All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0 -

do not show me links and its so easily explanable but you have posted replies with nothing, no explanations, just rubbish.
please explain how I got a person to write on a piece of paper the words 'father and son' never seen this person in my life before the event, I was told to ask my dad a question which no one except me knew the answer. The answer was on the paper within seconds of me asking the question, no more no less.
I do not really beleive I was talking to my dad but its a good eye opener when other questions are also answered. All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0 -

I don't think you should waste your time anymore silky, trying to get someone to believe something that they are clearly never going to believe. You know it happened, and so do the people with you.0 -
I saw a psychic this year, first time ever and last. It was a "social" thing I went to.
He's got a fantastic reputation. Everyone I know into that stuff raves about it and his accuracy. They've got a good wider rep too.
So I went in with an open mind.
Got to say some "facts" were spot on, and no, no one knows what was said apart from me and my husband. So it wasn't a case of he fished from friends.
That said lucky guesses/cold reading is my train of thought. As a hell of a lot made no sense at all and meant nothing.
I think people who are in need of believing in this stuff latch onto the most vaguest references, or the 10% of stuff which is accurate then ignore the jumble, much like people who use the Oujia.
If however if this substantial win comes my way before Christmas, I'll be the first on here saying hallelujah :cool:0
