Hi we slept ok, I had a nightmare about her breaking in, smashing window, me taking 'Wiglet' and legging it to the bathroom, the only other room with a lock, just crouching by loo with my scared tot.

But all's ok here. So far. I had a bit of scare yesterday morning, as the day before I'd done some cleaning out. I'd accidentally left the door unlocked and unbolted all night, luckily I realised as we were heading out early.

I am following your thread with interest and rooting for you but this post made me so sad for you.How horrid that your own mum is giving you nightmares. You deserve much better and are a million times a better mum than your own.

Delurking just to add to the chorus-you did wonderfully last night, the first time you had to go through that, with her showing up unexpectedly, would probably be the hardest since everything is still so raw and hurtful. But you did it perfectly, you managed not to give in at any point-be it to let her in, or simply talk to her-and it's just more evidence in your favour for later.

I think you should have another B&Js for that ;)

I must admit I really don't know what to make of your sister Wiggy. If my mother had put me in such an awful situation with a baby in tow I'd be furious with her unless I was as bats as she is ! Never mind the police angle just the keeping a child out in the cold and causing a ruckus with her banging would be unacceptable to me as a Mother. As an adult it's your Mother's decision if she acts like an idiot - but you don't drag your kids and grandchildren into your stupid (and unlawful) conduct.

Hope you have a lovely day today -you did very well yesterday -and even kept it all away from Wiglet.

  • The sister has seen Wiglet snatched from his mother's arms and the mother locked out of the house. And then rendered homeless. As well as all other sorts of weirdness. This not the kind of parent who should be crossed or disagreed with if you are dependent on them for roof over your head.

The sister might be called weak but look at the consequences for trying to be strong!

I know I said your sister was nuts for bringing along a baby last night - but, to be fair she couldn't have known what was going to happen, could she?
and B & T is right - your sis is totally dependent on your mum - she had no choice other than to do what she is told. Sadly, your sis doesn't have your strength of character Wiggy.

I hope you and Wiglet have had a lovely day out! I know money is short for you - but many museums are free (and they aren't the stuffy old places they used to be), so are libraries and many libraries run a 'Toy' Library (very handy for you to 'Try out' different kinds of toys with your son before deciding on his present for Christmas). They also do 'Story Times' - which can give you a much needed 'breather' for an hour or so. some libraries also do craft activities too. its a matter of checking what is available in your area.

The mother has massive mental health issues in my opinion, some kind of personality disorder and thats not knocking people who have mental health problems, I had a family member who was schizophrenic, but its very clear from an outside perspective, something is really terribly wrong here.

And you know, it can affect people in different ways. When you grow up in a family with someone who has mental health problems, thats their reality, that becomes your reality, in a way its normal to you.

Shes either mentally unwell or shes just plain evil, but the thing is, the sister is under her thumb, thats very clear.

Just an awful situation all round. My relative who was unwell is dead now and hed never have harmed us, however his illness did impact on us. But some types of MH problem, make the person who is suffering, they have to be the centre of everything.

Shes either ill, or shes just messed up totally. The sister as I said before will be completely manipulated by her.

All the OP can do, is do whatever it takes to protect her and her child and if that means cutting herself off from her family, so be it.

    .

    .

There's a lot of truth in this.
Wiggy has passed comment a couple of times on how she didn't realize what was and wasn't "normal" for families. She's escaped remarkably unscathed all things considered.
