Family cut themselves out of my son's life

I agree - do nothing!
Why should she be worried about him? He is with his very capable mother and if there were something wrong I am sure you would let her know! I agree with the others - its to create an air of 'concern', and to 'force' you to text back as she thinks YOU should be concerned for HER feelings! a guilt trip in other words! don't fall for it!0 -
I called HV- they said not much they can do, advised to call police to at least get it logged, to attend the full check-up for my son at GP, and if I need anything else to call them again. Said they can come out, look at him, etc., but said they'll do all that at GP, so no need.
Do you still have your son's red book? If so, write exactly what the HV said (and her name) in it. Take it along to the GP appt as well and get her to just put a line in it stating that he is healthy and well and that there are no worries about him.
Sometimes this sort of thing is easier to produce if necessary than GP records/medical notes.0 -
Still no 'How are you Wiggy? It would reasure me that both you and Young Wiggy are both well. Lots of love Mum.' What a difference between a normal loving mum's texts and what she is sending. Keep them all Wiggy, it all goes to show this is not a normal nice granny type to hve around your boy.
How's your migraines been?

I am contemplating adopting you wiggy! I have read your threads and you really put me in mind of my own Daughter! You share a lot of characteristics! Brave, Stubborn, Intelligent, and Determined with a strong sense of 'right and wrong'! also a deep love of her children and a determination to do what is best for them!
You have my support hun and if ever you need help - then you just let me know.0 -

I'm with Meri on this ....and if you need another granny ....I'm your woman!0 -
Ha, thank you! I didn't realise how abnormal it all is, I assumed that's what families were like, so its tricky to find a base ground for raising my son if this is all not how people should act! As for 'young wiggy', I rather like that
I just came up from making the dog dinner and found 1 missed call from my mum, along with another text:
'MY NAME you could be dead for all I know stop being silly and txt back plz'
It worries me that she'd jump to this conclusion. I have suspicions that if she had this thought, she'd be up here, knocking on neighbor's doors, looking over their fence into my home, saying things about me being suicidal and whatnot. I wouldn't be surprised if she tried that. I'm showing it all to the police on Sat. That government thing, linked to legal aid, has messaged me saying they can send her a warning letter about harassment. They are sending me a template letter for my GP to sign about stress/headaches as they need physical evidence of DV and said this would work.Up and onwards to the future!

Well, if she does, it will just show that what you have told your doctor/health visitor etc, is true, won't it? It will show her in her true colours to those that she is trying to impress!!
You are doing things in the right way - YOU have nothing to worry about - your mother, however .........0 -
Just a thought, and I'm open to being told it is not a good idea .. could someone else send a text on your behalf saying Wiggy and son are fine but need space and distance. I can't remember if you have contacted her at all since the original episode of her saying she would cut you and Young Wiggy out of her life if you didn't let her take him abroad for two weeks.
So something saying that you (sorry, not you, your son, she seems to have no concern about your well being) are well would give her no further exuse to be badgering you for news.
Not what other people have been saying I know.
Sorry about grammar and over use of commas there

Real Mothers support their daughters! they do NOT behave like your mother. Real Mothers do their best to enable the family 'unit' to grow and survive. They do NOT chase off the fathers of their grandchildren! they do NOT judge relationships! They do NOT throw out their own children! They do NOT then try to take control of the grandchildren! They do NOT harass their children! They do NOT threaten them with kidnapping their kids!
as a mother and grandmother - I think your mother is absolutely awful! on a scale of 1 - 0 she earns a zero!0 -

Id get a cheap second phone and turn your main phone off, so that if she is texting, the texts will still go to that phone and you wont have to read them.
Shes trying to upset you, that's why shes sent a text asking you to text back, you could be dead for all she knew, as you say, if she were that worried, she would come and see you. She isn't
Shes just trying to push your buttons. My mum and I have had our moments, but generally we get on well and shes always been supportive of me. We don't do texts that would upset the other person.0
