  • Morning, we had a very blustery night, the wind was howling round the house and we had most torrential rain for the couple of hours before midnight but other than the odd mizzly shower no more real rain since then. No damage other than the door frame on the polytunnel had shifted and twisted out of shape but all fixed now. DD1 and party got off as planned at 5.45 on the train but there have been a few delays (we've been tracking them online) and they are almost to Reading I think so getting nearer to thier destination. Eurostar should be running now according to the news. Hope you are all unscathed and otherwise well and there has been no substantial damage to property, I think we were lucky, it could have been a whole lot worse so I for one am pleased I made the preps I did. Take the greatest care if you are out and about early today and I wish us all a much calmer and peaceful nights sleep this coming night, I think we'll need it? Cheers Lyn xxx.

Was woken up by the sound of the gusting wind at about 6.15am, here in North Kent.

It was a bit wild outside for about an hour with the trees thrashing around, but it seems to have calmed down now.:T

    The sun is coming out.

  • Weather hitting now here in Colchester Essex, hubs out front saving two fence panels that are down (go stop the rest coming down with them) two more gone down in the back garden but can't be saved in this wind. No rain at mo....going to put some washing on, could be a good drying day! Glad greater anglia have cancelled trains, feel safer having hubs here today.

    Stay safe folks SG

Just noticed that something isn't looking quite right just down the road... Some of the trees in Island Gardens park seem to be missing a few branches and the pavement out there looks like it's a right mess

We were luckier than predicted - lots of heavy rain but the wind dropped early on and I was able to have the window open a bit all night.

I know other places are badly hit, and there were some shocking pictures on the news.

The pressure has changed here because my knees and finger are back to normal - for the previous 3 days they'd been badly swollen.

Off to the Isle of Wight we go! Not too bad last night, got us all in the same room, window frames creaked a bit and the wind was gusty.

Not looking forward to the ferry crossing! But it is running as normal.

Take care everyone and see you in a week.

We must be lucky here, it's been raining all night i've just been to put the bins out and the garden is all soggy, but they've forecast it will stop after lunch ans may even go sunny.

  • :eek:Not much to report in the Walsall Wood Brownhills area of Walsall area West Midlands, mind Im tucked up in the corner of a quiet road, plenty of rain and smaller branches and lots of leaves lying in the road, birds singing nd transport seems slow but careful....

No power cuts....light flickered but thats probably my ancient electrical system playing up, hopefully the "brand new roofing felt " stays put on my porch/entrance house to my front door area will survive, another "botch" job by local council, have had lots of leaks from the guttering above said roofing felt job as the blokie melted the guttering with his blowtorch thingey and now have pools of water sitting on top of said roof felt, theby have treated it as an emergency they will be here December 19th 2013:mad: to sort it out:eek::eek: hope we dont have any snow before then as the repair could take place in February 2014, so will just wait patiently till roof collapses and will enjoy my view of exposed wires in the porch ceiling where the damp plasterboard has fallen down.

My main fuse box is in this porch area and has had water dripping near it,:(:( seems thats not an emergency.

The wind has died down here, just rang my sister that lives over Stafford way she got into work ok said it was slowish on the roads due to overnight rain, is this the end of it or just a lull?

Birds are tweeting away and local fatty pigeon enjoying the bird seed thats been blown from the seed tray feeder....

Will keep reading folks have a safe and warm day...
Life is looking good, finances are stable for a while, smelly bungalow smelling fragrant and bank balance still low but solvent...in a good place till something else happens :p
