Plenty of rain and strong gusts of wind here in Essex but the trees seem to be standing up to it! Fingers crossed! Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

Where in Essex are you? I am in Harlow and the weather is a little windy here, and raining lots, but seems ok so far.. My husband has to drive home from work at 6am so I can't sleep until I know he is safe. Silly really as sure it'll be fine! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. My Mum lives in Chelmsford and she said the same (about the lights) she was very worried as there are two very large trees outside her bungalow, tried to tell her the likelihood is very low but she's routinely waking during the night to check, as if she can do anything anyway! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. been up since about 3.30 (I did say last night that the stupid wind would probably wake me up at stupid o'clock, didn't I
) it certainly is quite lively out here on the Isle of Dogs.

I am 2 mins from Harlow....winds are really sounding quite strong now but not as bad as I thought they might be. Trains into London are all cancelled so hubby will be working from home.
Hope your husband makes it home fine so you can get some rest!0 -
Gusts of 93.15mph have already been recorded at the Needles on the Isle of Wight, according to the MeteoGroup.
I'm just along the mainland from there and can vouch for that. Also my silly DS has just text to say he has just got into work but really shouldn't of ridden his BICYCLE!! He works right on the harbour, stupid boy0 -
And the stupid people across the road have just wheeled their recycling bin out... It's full of cardboard, probably will be all over the road very shortly. Way to go dimwits...Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0

Well, woke up "early" as bodyclock still on British Summer Time so decided to get up anyway as have now got a cold and head is thumping.
Wind insignificant here, low twenties, and light rain, but it's supposed to hit us from 08.00 onwards so not getting there yet. Mercifully, I am a 5 min walk from my workplace but my thoughts are with anyone travelling today.
ETA 6.23 - torrential rain has arrived.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
