  • Morning

Rain but not very windy this morning.

Cats were willing to go out and usually they know if things are going to get bad and rush out and back within a couple of minutes and they haven't returned yet.

Poor family who has lost their son though :(

Lashing down and blowing a hoolie here on the Kent coast. My roof is creaking and I can feel the house shudder in the gusts! Everyone else is asleep, aside from the cats who felt the need to express their disgust at having the cat flap closed. 2 have now ventured out to the nearest bit of earth, pee'd and shot back in. The rains been coming in the closed cat flap but luckily I had towels down just in case.....2 bath sheets, sopping wet!

It is over here and I don`t see any fallen trees in the orchard. I don`t believe it will be over for the se until about 12

Everything seems ok here and I am thankful as it could have been terrible. I don`t mind that it wasn`t as bad as expected as it could have been. Powers of nature are awesome. People should be able to get to work and things to carry on as normal

We had some heavy rain overnight and I heard a few gusts from about 2.30am onwards.

Currently there are roaring gusts, and according to the local independent radio station (who aren't the most reliable source) there are some trees down and the worst is due about 8am.

Dartford bridge is closed, and they've diverted Kent bound traffic through one of the tunnel bores.

We opened the curtains, and saw a confused and bewildered pheasant on the lawn. I think it's ok, just a bit frightened.by the wind. Hopefully it'll fly off later.

  • Stay safe everyone!
It's blowing a pretty mighty gale here in Holland at the moment. Windgusts of up to 148 km per hour predicted. I'm taking the 9yr old to school in the car (instead of letting her go on her bike as usual) and the 15 yr old is taking the bus. I can't bear to make them ride their bikes in this!..

Garden is all secured and the chickens are holding on to their feathers for dear life!

I didn't hear the wind or rain at all last night. Mind you I did have my earplugs in! All seems fine here in Somerset this morning, I have big trees in my garden and they still have plenty of leaves left, although my patio is covered with them.

Wet here in the East, but not as windy as last night.

Big plus is that I have my daughter home for another day, as trains were cancelled last night!

Right, the Tube is pretty much borked. Trees on the lines left, right and centre. Quite a few problems on the roads too.

Fire brigade has advised people not to go out on cycles & motorbikes - seen plenty of wobbly cyclists coming pretty much to a standstill on my road as soon they hit the headwind :rotfl:

Edit: the weather station for London City Airport just down the road is reporting 45mph steady wind with 65.5mph gusts in the last 30 minutes
