Been out for a little walk to check on the state of the area. Nothing major I am pleased to say :)

The small park next to me by the Thames is absolutely covered in small branches (nothing bigger than 3 inches in diameter or longer than about 5 feet) but the trees themselves have stayed upright. The big park about 200 yards away has fared a bit worse and lost a few trees.

Reports for other areas of the Isle of Dogs show that a few large branches & trees have come down and damaged some parked cars. Bits of scaffolding and building site hoardings scattered here and there.

But the important bit is that there doesn't seem to be any damage to buildings or injuries :T

You obviously didn't get 70mph gusts this morning, did you :p It looked a bit hairy for a while TBH.

The night was thankfully uneventful here. The wind was howling and the rain was pelting down but no damage. It is still very, very windy even now.

I have spoken to my Mum, who wasn't finishing work until late last night and she is fine too. Very sensibly she had candles and windup torches ready indoors for if she came home to a powercut and a torch in her handbag in case she had to abandon the car and walk. Sounds extreme but she passes a lot of woodland on the way home so the chance of a tree ending up across the carriageway was something she needed to prep for.

I hope you are all safe and the only damage is to things that can be replaced.

Went down to tidy up my stall & restock, and one of the big oaks along the main road into our little town has gone down. Sad to see such a beautiful giant felled, but it's fallen parallel to the road so no great harm done to the workaday world. Branches down all over, and bins strewn around the pavements, but nothing worse than that.

And I've got half my washing dry already!

Had an early morning wake up by 'Jude', really windy and although we put everything away in our garden the houses either side did not!, ended up with two fence panels down between ours and next door and half their metal garden furniture in my garden, thankfully they did no damage that I can see. It was quite frightening at one point our loft hatch popped open, really thought that we had lost roof tiles but have been out and checked and all seems ok.
We were in Orlando 8 years ago when it took a direct hit from Hurricane Charlie, and thought that this was more frightening, may be just that in your own home you are more worried about structural damage. Thankfully no loss of power so have managed to facetime eldest at Uni in Loughborough, they got away with some wind and rain.

south Wales was less windy than usual for this time of year overnight, blustery day earlier on sunday, but nothing out of the ordinary. Big trees come down every year where I am or large branches of them do (we get a lot of gusts from the coast) so although a few did come down yesterday, they were smaller - the weaker ones get knocked out regularly, as it's often very windy, which probably means we're less prone to problems if a gale does hit thankfully. garden still tidy, which is a bonus as don't have to do it all later in the year now!

hope everyone in the places hit is OK.

We had a run in with Hurricane Floyd in 1999, and I agree, it's much more worrying when it's your home that's in the firing line

I'm in Semilong and at 6 am, the rain was being blown UP the hill, which was weird to see! No damage in the pocket sized garden and the house seems fine too.

Had to get to W'boro for work this morning but thanks to local radio managed to avoid the A45 :-)

Hope everyone else is okay too,
