I'm surprised some people take it down before New Years, as I always see them at nye parties and see the tree as being there for both occasions really. I normally do it around mid dec and comes down couple of days after NYE.0

Usually around the 10th-12th, whenever the mood takes me. But it comes down on New Years Day as its time for a fresh start, that and I'm usually fed up with it.
This year may be different though, I am having our first baby next month....so we shall see!0 -
Usually the weekend before Christmas, but the 21st/22nd is a bit too close this year, so probably the 14th/15th. It usually way after anyone else and my daughters complain, but I think it makes it more special. It's also down before NY as well, before we go back to work.Re-mortgaged 20/04/12 MTiT-T3 No.7Start balance £89611.10 + £22500 = £112111.10/Current balance £85436.53

With 5 children (2 being toddlers) and 2 cats to strip it bare, it will go up at the last possible minute and be down by new years :rotfl:Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

Think we're actually going to pass on a christmas tree this year. We had a real one last year which the cats got a bit affectionate of and I got really fed up having to hoover every day because they were inside the tree play-fighting. A fake one just isn't the same for me, well, not enough for me to go and spend money on anyway!0

We always put ours up on the first weekend in December. We had a fake tree a few years back, but it got absolutely destroyed by the cat so have had real ones since!0

The weekend before Christmas and down on 6th January. I'd rather put it up on Christmas Eve, but DS would not be happy."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." We always put ours up on the 10th December. It's what I did growing up as that is my mum's birthday so it was tied in with that. We get a tree with roots then plant it in the woods at my brother's in January.
We live in a tiny 2 up 2 down so wherever the tree goes, it is in the way! We always have a New Years Eve party so take the tree down on the afternoon on NYE so there is room to get everyone in the living room.0 -
I usually put ours up a week before Christmas. But last year I was so rushed with work and uni that it was the weekend before Christmas and I think this year will be the same. I usually take it down on the 3rd or 4th of January because its bugging me by then.
When we were kids, my mum let us decorate the back of the tree - you could get round the back of it but not many people looked so she didn't mind how higgledy piggledy it was.0 -
Our is going up the 22nd of november, Our 4 year old has requested for it to be up for her birthday as its up for her sisters in december. OH was only too happy to comply as the amount of decorations we have makes it look like a christmas showroom: DD1 23/11/09
