We put ours up round the second week in December (usually the weekend). Any earlier and it would drive me mad! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

DS has his birthday on the 19th so it's always after that. When the kids were little, it would go up after we had got them to bed on the 19th, now we tend to all do it together either on the 19th evening or 20th day.
One year he wanted it up before his birthday but it was a nightmare with all the people in the house for his birthday bash and he felt it wasn't really birthday ish so asked us to wait the following year.
Not sure this year as we have a cubs sleepover on the night of the 20th. Plus, I work all over Christmas so it's a bit of a nightmare fitting stuff in!
I like it down nice and quick as it just gets cluttered too.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -

Wow. I spend ages getting mine just right. I titivate it for days. It goes up first weekend of dec, and comes down after new year.
I have a garland on the fireplace and a sweeping garland up the stairs.
This year I'm having a tree in the conservatory too.
I wouldn't go to all that effort for two or three days, I love my decs and they cost such a lot of money I like to get enjoyment out of them.
I've build up a lovely collection over the years.0 -

Can't help but wonder why you posted on this thread really....... :doh:0 -
I don't. I'm not a fan of Christmas. I have no kids to celebrate it for so don't bother. I used to but I have two cats who delight in pulling it over and trying to eat the tinsel. It's not worth the vet bills.
If I did it would be about 7 days before Christmas. Who needs a Christmas tree up for over a month?Sigless0 -
I don't understand why people who don't have a Christmas tree at all are responding to a thread asking 'when do you put up your Christmas tree?' Maybe they misread the title as 'do you have a Christmas tree?'
Anyway, that aside...ours usually goes up close to the second weekend in December. We have a real tree but if you buy a decent one and keep topping up the water it lasts very well for ages. We have very traditional decorations in gold and red, lots of lights and candles, and I love it. As soon as the evenings draw in I am itching to get the Christmas decorations up as it is so lovely to sit in the darkened house with all the lights and candles twinkling, looking beautiful and all Christmassy.
Can't wait!0 -

Christmas tree up 1 December and down 5 january. The tree is decorated and I put up the christmas cards that coordinate with my deco, but other than a few church candles no christmas tat.
I've always wanted a hallway with a sweeping staircase just to drape a garland over it at christmas time.
I love Christmas, anyone done the gift shopping and written the cards?
No, not done a thing yet0 -
We've been and bought our tree and all the decorations over the weekend and everything will be put up on the 1st december, and taken down on the 1st january.0
