When do you put your Christmas tree up?

another vote for up the weekend before Christmas, and down just before New Year - I'm usually really busy in the run-up to Christmas as I work in the kitchen at a hotel - and DH just doesn't think about these things!
I'm going to make a special effort this year I think, put up the tree, with some carols on and some liebkuchen and posh fizzy pop etc, as well as putting up some bird and cat friendly decorations in the sitting room (we have 4 budgies and a cockatiel that have the run of the flat when we are at home, and 3 cats that have the run of the flat the whole day).
I think the cats have grown out of their annoying kitten habit of chewing through the christmas light wires so I might decorate the windows with lights again this year. Not sure how our oldest cat didn't electrocute herself as she didn't mind whether the lights were on or off when she chewed through the wires!DFW Nerd no 239.....Last Personal Debt paid off Nov 2012!

We never really bother with Christmas, but I have a tiny tree which I put up as a joke. It is 2.5" tall and I think it came out of a cracker years ago. It gets brought out about December 23rd, and put back in the drawer after daughter's stay, which is a couple of days between Christmas and New Year. Bah, humbug!0

We start putting THEM up on the first weekend in December - one in every downstairs room and the one in the garden makes...far far ..too many
oh and two upstairs
and then theres the rest of the decorations too.....
we used to row about it..as I found it so visually busy it was quite difficult to deal with..
but I just gave in to the madness of the whole thing eventually and ..well..bring on the tinsel...!Fight Back - Be Happy0 -
Usually goes up about 10 days before xmas and always comes down New Year's Eve much to families disgust
One year I had taken it down as normal on New Year's Eve, packed it all away, vacuumed up all the bits and thought thank god that is over with and took the dog out for a walk. About an hour later returned home and there in the corner of the room was the tree, fully lighted and decorated and bits everywhere again!! I think the family were mounting a protest lol. hasn't stopped me taking it down at the same time though!!

First of December (I restrain myself from putting it up earlier, even I feel like that'd be a bit too mad), then it will be taken down when I come back just before New Year I think. I'm not keen on it being there for New Year when Christmas is over either. I'd hate it if I had to take it down on New Year's Day, all ready for going back to work on the 2nd!
Yes, I still have a tree and decorate even though I don't spend Christmas Day or any of the days around it at home!0 -
We also take the kids out each year to choose a decoration for the tree. They remember which are theirs (how? I have no idea apart from the ones with names on!) and I still put up the decorations they made at preschool. DH threw some out last year and I had to retrieve them from the bin. They're old now but I still remember how cute and little the kids were when they made them 8 and 7 years ago

Whenever I have time, I do like it up early think last year it went up around the 13th of December but this year I'm really busy in December and only have the first weekend free to do the house so will likely have it up the 7/8th. I will probably take it down January the 4th/5th. Took it down pretty early last year think it was down before New Years but that was due to having two wedding and a funeral to attend, the one day I had free I thought I would get it done.0

Up the 1st of December (probably because when I lived at home my mum wouldn't let us put the tree up to about 20th Dec!) and down on 6th January after the 12 days of Christmas.
On the rare occasion when the tree has come down earlier than 6th December (Real tree and wilting!) the Crib stays up the 6th Jan.Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0
