Never...The wife about a week before and then down new year...I hate the commercial crap of Christmas and the pressure it puts on people...Ban the stupid thing..It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -

I LOVE Christmas so want to do it on 1st December
He says not before 12th December as the 1st is too early (what a humbug!)
So out of interest if you particpate in Christmas trees and/or decorations when do you put yours up?
My parents (where we spend Christmas) put theirs up 3-4 days before Christmas, and chuck it out on 6th January. We don't have one at all, and OH loathes CHristmas decorations, so we don't have any of those, either....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Generally the second week in December i love putting the decs up, we have a tree and a garland over the fire and some lights at the window that's about it.
I find there is a snotty attitude about Christmas decorations each to their own i say, if you like them put them up if you don't leave them down it's as simple as thatITV comp winner no 410 -
I have a small - 3 foot - gold coloured tree that lifts out from a circle into a cone and hangs on a central pole. It has little gold decorations, leaves and a star on it, takes about 2 minutes to get it out of the box and onto the coffee table on Christmas Eve, the same to put it away in its box again on Twelfth Night . Keep it simple0

My SIL puts hers up the weekend nearest to 25th November so just checking the calendar it'll probably be 23rd November!Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0

Someone said that every family has traditions and I agree. Our tree goes up in time for DD1s birthday on 20th December. She's 44 now but when she was little we always had the house all decorated for her birthday and the tradition has stuck!:)
We have a real tree, in a pot in the garden. It's looking healthy so it'll be brought in when the time comes. Then all my decs which I've saved over the years, including hand made ones that DDs made when they were schoolgirls.
Always comes down on or just before Twelfth Night.0 -

I'm not a fan of xmas decs. You do your home up the way you want it, it doesnt make sense to me to add tat at christmas!!!!
I'm a bit like this, we do have a tree and put cards up but I really don't get why you would redecorate your whole house just for a couple of weeks.
Even worse are all the Xmas style accessories that seem to get more abundant each year ie aprons, tea towels, blankets, crockery.. Why buy them, use them once or twice then put them back in a cupboard for the rest of the year?
Bah humbug!0 -
