Phoned today after receiveing a leaflet through the door, free nokia N95, 225 minutes and 100 texts a month, 6 months at £12.50, thereafter £25

Was originally told the phone would cost me £150, but I politely pointed out that the leaflet stated free N95 on all price plans, she went to talk to her supervisor and came back to explain that it was a price error, which they are aware of but would honour it

Very pleased with the deal and it will be delivered tomorrow
  • loobylou36, which company is offering that deal? Vodafone?
I'm looking for an n95 but since it's an internet phone I want to be able to use it as it was designed, and so only Vodafone and Tmob are offering remotely good data deals. I want to be able to use VoIP though, and Tmob cripples the n95 unless I want to pay out my nose for the functionality.

Is flashing the f/w a taboo subject here...? (noob, I'll look). If not,

    Via 3G
    Standard f/w
    Orange- Can't use VoIP
    Vodafone- Can't use VoIP
Tmob- Can use VoIP on highest data plan
O2- Can use VoIP if you are prepared to pay out the nose for a stupidly small amount of data

    Debrand & upgrade the f/w
    Orange- Can (?)
    Vodafone- Can (?)
Tmob- can't because they block the actual ports (?)
    O2- Can

Via Wifi (this is what i'm confused about)
    Standard f/w
    Orange- Can't use
    Vodafone- Can't use
    Tmob- can or can't?
    O2- Can

    Debrand and upgrade the f/w
    Orange- Can
    Vodafone- Can
    Tmobile- Can
    O2- Can

If someone can see a mistake please jump in and tell me, i'm trying to get this all cleared up in my head. Voda seem to be the best of the bad options if you want this phone...

Phoned vodafone for the offer, it is advertised on their website, they are charging £230 for the phone with this deal, so reckon I got a bargain
  • Thanks chap, so if I were to ring Voda and mention that I got a flyer through the door they might be nice to me? Might be interesting

    How much for the phone?

And is it the same tariff above or can you have any for 3 months half price?

Also, was it a 12 or 18 month contract?

Popped into Phones4U on my lunch break today to see if they would price match the mobilephonesdirect deal of £35p/m 12month contract, 500xnet mins + 250text on Vodafone. I would definitely go for the mobilephonesdirect deal if only they would allow me to port my number but they won't. Vodafone seem to do the same offer directly but costs £50 for the phone.

Phones4U asked me what I'd seen so I mentioned that deal. They kept trying to get me to go for an 18month deal but I don't do 18month deals. Too long! Best they could do was £40p/m 12month contract 500xnet mins + 500text and port my number. Asked me if there was any other incentives i was looking for and I asked if I could have a unbranded handset instead of one with Vodafone slapped all over it limiting my features and ability to upgrade to latest software version. I feel being able to upgrade to the latest version is very important with this phone seeing as it was originally very buggy.

Will ring Orange tomorrow for my PAC unless they can offer me an amazing deal, however they have been annoying me lately introducing petty little charges like delivery reports, non direct debit payment fees and itemised billing fees without asking me. Even then Orange will probably be out of stock of the phone until I'm halfway through my contract and when it does turn up they will have crippled it with their badly modified software.

How does that deal sound to everyone else?
