Just got off the phone, signed up for the current standard 6*13.5 + 12*27 but with the handset down to £40. Had to buy the £10 sim, but chucking in the bluetooth headset and car charger...
It might just be good luck, but I reckon 6-7 is the time to call...

Hi,
Very interesting reading through some of the pages here. I guess it depends what side you're coming from - cheapest phone, or best tariff? Many of the offers here would actually cost more in the long run then buying the phone outright, but then again I don't need the huge number of minutes being offered.
I was thinking of going with Vodafone, and was all set to buy the handset outright for about £330 and then go for a 12 month cashback deal for 12 months on the Anytime 500 tariff. Reading some of the posts on here made me think it might be cheaper to go direct through Vodafone to get the phone, but now I'm getting the impression they're clamping down on the really cheap deals due to high demand and therefore reduced profitability. I would also prefer to go for 12 months, but would stretch to 18 if the cost saving were significant. I know this doesn't bother many people, but for a tech junkie like me being stuck there for 18 months would be a chore.
I'm going to see if my trader can get me the N95 Sim Free any cheaper than £330 and then make up my mind. I might give Vodafone a call and see what I can charm out of them
Someone asked here on the net situation with Vodafone. When I spoke to them on Friday, they said it's up to £1 for up to 0.5MB per day, and a flat £1 up to 15MB per day. If you don't use any net on a given day there is no charge. Or there's £7.50 for 120MB a month. Bear in mind some VoIP and P2P ports are blocked. Truphone is one VoIP company that has been particularly badly hit by mobile networks blocking its ports. You might want to use a VoIP company that deliberately uses non-standard ports if you're worried about that sort of thing. Voiptalk is my personal recommendation.

Ive just spent a few hours looking at all my phones. I had three mobiles. One for work , one for a call out for a contract I manage privately through my own small business and one personal/business. On top off that , I had TalkTalk International 3
I have got shot off the oncall mobile , as it had 9.99 line rental and was rarely used. I have just advised the customer to call the personal number.
I have chopped down to talktalk international 2 saving £4.10
Now the big saving was my personal mobile. I was due an upgrade. and called O2.
Turns out I use 900 minutes a month which on my tariff off 500minutes (35)was costing me an average bile of £75 this last year. Ok , these were mainly calls for my personal business and had to be made. The nice lady asked what I did ,
"Im Director of a local consultancy business"
"After a long discussion , she has offerd me a N95 with 1200 mins , free long weekends and 3meg of downloadl (again above my average) on an 18mth contract at £50 a month.
So overall , I am better off by about £25+£9.99+£4 less the £15 increase in my tariff. So around £25
Im happy , guess I could have got a better deal , but with me moving all around the country at the moment , time is of the essence.
Oh , and I have a K800i to get shot off.

Doesn't sound bad, I got mine yesterday from voda 300min, 100 texts about a little less monthly but £50 for the phone (£40+£10 for a sim).
BUT was a bit of a struggle to get it (called 3 times till I got someone wiling to barter...)

I really tried to squeeze a better deal, even spoke to a supervisor but they were not budging...urrggghhh

Oh dear. 3 people have now reported being lied to about the N95 sat nav costs. Not good at all.0 -

The guy was basically trying to flog me another phone. He asked what I was interested in I said GPS and camera, he proceeded to rubbish them both...
But to be honest this was the least helpful of the 3 people I spoke to that day.0
