Hopefully these help - the 2nd link is a PDF doc which helps you quickly see what's vegan in stores etc.

I do vegan months regularly, pasta (egg free), curry, salads etc are all good. Asda even do a vegan chocolate spread!

Thank you very much this is very helpful.

Just went to M&S for first spend of the month. Saved £10 with their offers. So 2 x burgers, and 2 x chicken breasts will go in the freezer. The rest and the bacon and paella will be used for meals over the weekend.

If anyone shops regularly at M&S, you can sign up for GreenRedeem
    https://www.greenredeem.co.uk/
and complete a few surveys and pledges to earn points, which can be redeemed for a variety of money-off vouchers, including a £5 off £25 food spend at M&S (not available at present, but is on there fairly regularly).
Get £25+ of food before any offers/multibuys etc, scan the coupon at the end of your shop but before pressing Pay (if using SS till; if using manned till, get SA to scan it before the final amount); the £5 comes off the total, then the various deal/multibuy savings are deducted, so you can get some quite substantial savings.
I did this in January, and got about £220 of food for around £40:).
A lot of it is still in the freezer, which is now full of course after being empty, so that's why I've not been on here a lot:o

Out yesterday came a portion of TITH and a potion of mashed swede and mashed BNS. My son decided that he didn't want the chilli and jacket potatoes the rest of us were having. He is not to keen on spicy things and it used up a spare portion from the freezer so I didn't mind.
Out also came 2 chocolate doughnuts that he spotted while he was in there
In went 4 hm pizzabases and some broccoli florets. 4 chicken kiev and 8 southern fried chicken these are for a friend though as she was too busy to shop, she'll collect them on Saturday.

I have really blown the majority of my budget already this month so operation belt pull in and freezer dive until empty begin today :)
I have 12 chicken drumsticks in the fridge as well as 3 pkts of mince and some cooking bacon before I even start on the freezer so we should be fine.

Had a further freezer clear out... 5 packs of (now brown) frozen bananas went in the bin - all bananas are now eaten fresh with no wastage! I was going to use these in cakes but they just looked too soggy. Also threw out 2 hm veg curry portions - it was from a recipe that went wrong, they weren't very nice as I struggled to eat the rest of the batch and I can't eat spicy stuff anyway at the mo. Used up a portion of the HG beans last night in a stir fry but they just ruined the rest of the fresh veg in it really, just been frozen too long - I am contemplating throwing them all out and starting again when the new stuff grows this year. Frozen food is so dire especially the stuff that has been in the freezer for more than a year :o Plus the nutritional content of it can't be that good! Anything that goes in the freezer from now on will have a maximum turnaround time of a month!!

From the dried food stock - I have finished off the basmati, split peas, cashews, pecans, brazil nuts, risotto rice - so all pots now washed up. Some were just stored in glass jars so they can go in recycling and I can have a tidier cupboard... I will rebuy some of these things though bit by bit. Might throw the cornflour later - date unknown, it was pre-spreadsheet, I never use it and tbh if I had a recipe that needed it I think I would buy fresh.. ditto the polenta - horrid stuff, the only thing I was going to try was rolling a pizza base out in it but I really don't like the taste of it in general and polenta chips was the worst thing I've made and had to eat.. Fed up of things hanging around that I'm not using but I feel guilty throwing them out all the same!

Placed minimum order Ocado delivery this week - just for basic daily essentials, washing powder, water, yoghurts etc, no stuff for meals though - only trying to do one Ocado delivery a month to keep costs down. Still buying veg from the org delivery companies - again minimal amounts, just enough for each week as I need it.

Dinner tonight will just be tofu and veg stir fry.

^ change of plan - dinner will now be pancakes - I got the soya milk portion out the freezer this morning for lunch but it's frozen solid still, so had toast for lunch and will have the pancakes tonight instead.. Last portion of tofu can roll over to tomorrow night - can do with the change as I've had it the last two nights anyway.
  • Back on Sunday from my mums with a massive freezer bag of home grown beef so the freezer is now full again. Did leave some mince out this morning for spag bolognaise tonight. Hubby took a joint of pork out and cooked a roast dinner Sunday however he managed to cremate the outside yet the middle was very pink - I think it must have been frozen when it went in and the oven was too hot. I managed to salvage what was left for dinner last night. Heading to the supermarket tonight for the monthly big shop. Will probably cone back within more for the freezer grr just when I had started making head way
