Thank you Emmasworld - though must admit novelty wore off after 4 meals the same in a row :D Jar gone out the fridge anyway, aubergines/lambs lettuce all used too so all the veg ordered last week has been used ready for the veg box tomorrow - cleaned out the fridge today too.

Had another portion of hm soup today, bit fed up with soup now and didn't overly enjoy it today, tasted a bit of freezer burn so just added more dukkah.. 1 more portion to go.

Also made some almond biscuits tonight, so last pack of butter out the freezer. Thought I'd finish off the last of the flaked almonds but still have some left.. they have been open ages so would have liked to have used them all up really. Might make some more veggie pies now I have the butter out the freezer, have ordered some plain flour and will use root veg/puy lentils for the filling.

I did throw 3 balls of stem ginger out, rare occurrence for me to bin something however small, but had been open in the fridge for ages, at least 16 months as it was marked 'Oct' and I know I didn't buy it last year! - said use within 6 weeks of opening on it :o tbh it smelt ok and probably was useable.

Have put in minimum order with Ocado as got a cheap delivery slot and needed some heavy items, cupboard essentials and laundry stuff etc - been saving up all the organic items on offer so getting some good prices on things.
  • Out today - small bag of cooked chicken and mozzarella as my DS would like a HM pizza for dinner tonight which will also use up some of the sorry looking mushroom that are left lol.

Have been really good and nothing going in apart from leftovers however freezer still looks as full as ever!

Out today bread for toasted sandwiches, some cake, 2 portions apple crumble.
in - nothing, going to jazz up second part of chicken casserole from last night for tea to night.

I actually saw the bottom of the freezer for a split second yesterday before things fell off my stack and covered it over again, :)

  • Hi all, another newbie to this post saying hello. Having read through this thread last night I really need to think I need to join you if that's ok. I have one small freezer and one large upright freezer full of stuff and there is only me and my 3 year old DS to eat it all. My DS goes to nursery four full days a week so it is mainly me who will be eating it all.

I have two downfalls which have led to this I really enjoy cooking and I find it hard to resist a bargain. However, from this weekend onwards I am going to try to only buy bread, milk, fruit and veg etc and get the stores down significantly.

Looking forward to getting to know you all better.

    Morning all lol.

Yesterday as In Thursday, I had lunch on the run, I stopped by my friends new shop, which sells Lebanese foods and has a butcher and rotisserie, so I thought I'd buy some stuff and show my support, I got a rotisserie chicken, some tortilla wraps and some flat breads and a bit of chocolate cake.

In the freezer has gone 2 packets of bagels, a bit of my bagels always soggy and I cut it off, also went to Mr t and got some frozen goods chips, nuggets.

I had some of the chicken with some oven chips and garlic mayo last night and for lunch today the last of the mince I cooked, it wasn't enough for a meal, so I had it with some lettuce that I had to strip right back, cucumber, a piece of avocado that was brown had to cut off the brown bits and had that lot in a wrap with a sprinkling of cheese, Tonight I went out to dinner with some friends and it was lovely, I had wanted to try Cuban as I had never had it before and some cocktails.

I have put the peas on to soak as I'm making burritos tomorrow I'm making bean and cheese, some will have to go in the freezer, will add chicken into the ones I have for dinner tomorrow I think, with some veg.

I picked up a bag of bean sprouts, a mixed veg bag and some Vivaldi potatoes,I'm Mr s, ys.

    Out: very large ham, 2 x fish pie, 2 x cottage pie, 3 x. 50 g cheese, 1 x bolognese sauce.

    In: nothing.

I have one drawer of one freezer half empty! Just buying milk and veg is going well I think that I can carry on for the whole of march from the freezer and then attack the next one.

Out today a full chicken to make a dinner, some ham bits to make a ham and mushroom quiche for lunch tomorrow and some cooked chicken bits and some crusty rolls. We just had chicken mayonnaise sandwiches with these. I also took out 2 chicken carcasses and they are in the slow cooker with some sorry looking veg to make a big vat of soup which will do lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday for the 4 of us.
I have a fridge full of meat that I need to separate and freeze, 4kg of chicken drumsticks from the li dl weekend deal, so most of these will go in in 1/2kg portions.
I'm also busy roasting a BNS and a swede is in the microwave, I'll mash these later and then freeze in portions, lot's of freezer movements :)
