I think in most of the vegan cookery things I've seen, when they use marge instead of butter in pastry it needs to be a bit more of a substantial type marge, something like Trex or stuff with harder or is it fattier fat? maybe it's fat percentage I can't remember - I think they often add coconut or palm oil (yuk). Same as in biscuits, they didn't work with the normal marge (Pure).

Mrs M - what marge did you try?

ive used vitalite it worked ok for pastry but i did find i needed to all a little more flour the first time do the second time i used slightly less vitalite

BUT DS2 who is vegan has appoved M soft spread that says made for baking on the tub. its a big square tub from morrys 2kg for £2.99

it does say may contain milk but she says they have to put that on any product made in a factory that also makes things that have milk in.

I had more of the pasta with aubergine, red pesto and lambs lettuce last night, ended up in agony again but was lovely taste. 2 more portions (of pain) left.. so probably have the same tonight/tomorrow and then get back on the bland food sharpish.

Got some dough on the go for either bread or rolls and also putting on some split peas to cook to make a dip for lunch.

Planning my veg delivery for end of the week so working out next week's meals around it - which I think will be mostly chickpea and root veg tagine all week for evening meals with either couscous, bulghar wheat or gram flour pancakes. Will get salad bits for lunches and need to add in some dark, leafy greens somewhere..

Life has got in the way of posting lately

It now goes dark at about 6pm, that's when I have to put all my hens to bed (350) not to mention the alpacas and help with bringing the horses in and changing rugs, but I have to admit I do the baby horses and leave the adults to my DH. The thing is we always want to eat tea at about 7pm and that's the exact time when we come in the house so for the next few weeks it's casseroles all the time - we just come in and dish up.

Tonight chicken casserole with vegs from the freezer (carrots, celery, leeks, asparagus) plus potatoes, chicken stock and a tin of soup for flavour, I'll try and nip into the house after the alpacas have been put away and add some dumplings. Pudding is already sorted from batch cooking and the freezer. Only will need to make custard at 7pm.

    Sorted
