Hehe @joedenise, it was one of those: throw everything in slow cooker and see what happens. Lamb shoulder (which got shredded off the bone afterwards), barley and pea soup mix (pre boiled), a bit of veg and spices (cumin, coriander). It not a pretty dish, but so, so tasty and filling. It's good for the soul to walk with your soles on the soil.0

Out pk of pork cubes, made casserole, put it in the ironheart about 4pm. ready by 7pm
tomorrow I'll be par roasting parsnips from the plot and freezing them.
I bought a couple of kg of chestnuts and they will be heading in the same direction. I used to collect chestnuts as we have three mature trees but on careful inspection they were riddled with very tiny maggots so I don't do that any more.
Got a very poor crop of hazelnuts this year, the squirrels got to them first before they were properly ripe.
I must remember to collect a couple of bucketful's of crab apples before the deer eat them all. We have a doe with her this year's fawn - she had her fawn at the back of what is our designated garden in amongst the trees. She used to leave it hidden in the undergrowth every day but we could see her from the kitchen when she came back to feed it. I don't really like deer they eat too many of the plants but it's been fascinating watching the little one grow up.0 -
In: dozen low fat burgers; 2 dozen low fat sausages from the butchers all packed in meal sized portions; 5 x 2 portions bags of beef & barley stew plus 1 smaller bag which will do for lunch for us both
Out: couple of handfuls of free flow steak mince to add to a breakfast hash0 -
Out: all the herbs and spices that either seriously out of date or lost their smell or taste. Added chilli flakes.to a dish few days ago and it tasted like dust. Expired in 2018
It quite clear that some own brand store spices not worth the name on the label too.

In:-just chestnuts, I had plans for parsnips but life got in the way.
Out:- 1 left over pheasant casserole, ice-cream and blackcurrant cheese.
Fridge:- made a mash/fried all left over roasted veg from the weekend, added a bit of spice. I don't like waste.
The geese got the outside leaves of a couple of cauliflowers and some really tough broccoli stems with their tea. I had to chop and then boil it to soften it but I did it on the ironheart so no electric used there.0 -
