Welsh Poppy congrats on the weight loss 17lb that's some loss, you put me to shame!!!

    Freezer
In over last few days:- turkey bones for stock at a later date plus all uneaten turkey. Rest of ham, cubed so I can use bits as I go along, rest of apples from the summer as they were starting to go soft and I didn't want to throw them away.
Out:- not a lot, a couple of deserts, some ice-cream and some vegs.
I only aim to buy what I desperately need this month - like fresh veg - as the freezers are full to overflowing and I need to make serious inroads into them because I intend to do as much veg growing as I can and therefore will need space later in the year.

I have spent the last few days assessing what I spent last year and what I want to buy (large items) this year so I have set my budgets and the aim of the game is to try and beat these targets. Food is only one part of it but every bit saved will feel like an achievement and the money will be put towards my goals for 2014

going to have to have a good read of this thread i think, we overstocked before christmas and cupboards and freezer are rammed full. At the beginning of every year we say we could happily survive out of the cupboards etc easily with only milk bread and veg top ups but we never do we just keep ramming it in.
this year im going to really try and see if i can make some serious space in food mountain while saving some money for when bargains appear and we do NEED to top up.

OOO not posted in so long! Had food delivery on 31st, OH and I are vegan for January so will be interesting to see what meals we come up with!

We're having vegan Bolognese tonight, and lunch was salad, pita and hummus.
I'm aiming to spend only about £30 more on food this month if possible.

First shop since before Christmas, mainly veg and some fruit, firelighters and bread flour, should come in at under £20.

Freezer out: beef mince to make 4 portions of cottage pie and then I'll freeze two of them for another day.

Horrible, horrible weather at the moment
