Hi all
Keeping very much to my resolution for food decluttering so far so out of the freezer today is some slices of cooked gammon some of which will be used for my dinner with some mash and beans, some frozen chicken stock which I have used to make a use up sunday soup from the following
5 very bendy very sad looking carrots
quite a few yellowing and sorry for themselves sprouts
a load of peas (from the freezer)
handful of lentils
can of tomato puree
gammon pieces
a red onion that was starting to curl up and die
mixed herbs quite old and faded looking
worcester sauce
squirt of tomato ketchup
chuck in the slow cooker for 6 hours and pray to the gods of fingers crossed and hope it tastes ok
Bet you are all rushing to find some bendy carrots now after my awesome recipe eh :rotfl::rotfl:
Assuming this tastes OK which is debatable of course I will be putting some portions in the freezer but they will get eaten for my work days lunches.
Now on to remove the sprouting bits from my stack of potatos to make some mash for tonight and probably some freezer mash.0 -

Have cleared out big pile of books, think may go to charity shop with them and my mother and get her wandering around town centre instead of supermarket shopping on Tuesday.

I've been trying to get ahead of myself today with cooking. All ingredients either in freezer, fridge or cupboards.
Made 12 portions of apples sponge, 12 portions of apple and blackberry sponge, 12 portions of HM orange marmalade sponge. Chopped the rest of the cooking bacon up into small bits and cooked them, now in freezer to use in various dishes, made 48 hobnobs (Twinks recipe) All to be frozen - hopefully it will stand me in good stead for a few weeks.
I had an idea to use up some bacon rashers left over from Christmas. Lined two very small cake tins (4") with the rashers, going to fill them with cooked minced turkey and mushrooms and make a sort of parcel. I'll see how they turn out, we'll have them for tea with some veg. - here's hoping.0 -
In a fit of something unusual for me in the form of a desire to keep going I made a Hestons lemon tart using up 6 eggs, 5 lemons , and a pastry tart.
At this rate I will have to shop in mid Jan and will be 5 stone heavier0 -

Update...
I have just made 36 rissoles with the final breadcrumbs in the freezer and my almonds are decreasing in the cupboard (use by date is September). I have stopped buying and eating (and freezing!) bread for now.
Also I have two portions of quorn curry in there.
The large nut roast is still in the freezer (I need the family to visit so I can use it!) along with 3 chestnut burgers, half a bag of quorn fillets and the tofu.
I have to confess that I have bought one more bag of quorn pieces as I prefer them in a curry to the fillets (must find a way of using the fillets up)
Other than that in the freezer I have some sliced peppers, mushrooms, chestnuts, peas and ginger. Oh, and some sage and onion stuffing balls. I think they may get thrown out in the end thought that will be the last resort.
I wrote the above in July 2013.
The almonds have only just been used.
I have the 5 half bags of bread in my freezer! That resolution didn't stay long.
The chestnut burgers have now gone, as are the stuffing balls, quorn, quorn fillets, the peppers, the mushrooms and the 36 rissoles (though I think I may have made more since then, but there are none now in the freezer) .
The nut roast went in December. I have two portions of quorn curry and two of thai green quorn curry in my fridge. I want to eat them this week and would rather not freeze them.
My freezer contains now contains
bread
peas
mashed potato
potato croquettes
tofu
ginger
mushroom parpadelle
macaroni cheese
vegetarian sausages
home made veg sausage rolls
shortcrust pastry
My daughter keeps asking when I am going to buy my new fridge freezer as this one is noisy and I have had my eye on a new one for almost a year now - but won't get it until I have used up my freezer contents.
So no more sandwiches which would mean buying fresh bread. I usually use the breadcrumbs in nut roasts, nut rissoles and vet sausage rolls - but they would go back into the freezer and defeat the object. Not Rachmaninov

That's a lot of eggs in one recipe! It always puts me off trying a recipe if something uses too much of something.
Organic petits pois
I was put off ordering those ^ from the reviews, let me know what you think.zafiro1984 wrote: »
Diet started, using smaller plates at the moment as I'm sure portion size is a major factor in my being overweight. Also, there is so much that needs using up I can't justify going shopping. I've frozen what I can but hopefully smaller plates will help as what can't be fitted on the plate won't be eaten.
I've been using a smaller plate for ages now, more so just to keep things in check but made more sense for me. I also read today in the Waitrose mag that another idea was to fill the plate with veg, salad, fruit etc first then put anything else on top.
Dinner tonight: 30g lentils, tofu and watercress - can't use my normal dressing so cooked the lentils with bay leaf and added olive oil and garlic. Was surprisingly nice!
I know all the meat eaters are drooling at the sight of this
