Yes, it's the http://www.macsween.co.uk/our-products/macsween-vegetarian-haggis/macsween-vegetarian-mini-6/ Macsween veggie haggis we buy. Have only ever seen the ordinary size in Waitrose but they do produce mini versions which would be great for single meals/smaller appetites as they are VERY filling. As Mrs money penny says, they are suitable for vegans too :)

Veggie haggis probably seems like a strange concept when you consider what the original version contains (sorry but eeeeurgh!) but I just look at it as just another veggie dish which just happens to be called a haggis.

Mmm, love the haggiii vs haggises question :rotfl:

^ The contents of a veggie haggis actually sound quite nice!

It still has that look though that put me off and which I associate with the 'real thing'. I suppose I hadn't even looked that close at the ones in the shops as just didn't know it came in veggie version :T new fact of the day for me.

    Some nice lentil recipes:

  • Hey guys!

So, i forgot to use some eggs up and they are now out of date 3/01/14 how do i tell if they are still o.k? there was a trick mentioned before, something to do with water. if they are o.k im going to rustle up some oat and chocolate muffins and freeze, because im back on my healthy eating so will need to ration.

salmon wraps out the fridge, i will boil some potatoes then roast when i put the salmon in, also bung in some beetroot and steam some beans and red cabbage.

    Hope you are all well.

^ I would just eat the eggs and hope.. it's only a few days and it's in baking rather than a fried egg.

I think Mary Berry showed the egg in water test on the bake off masterclass recently?
  • Hi all

    Monday update.
IN to the freezer went 4 ziploc bags of soup made yesterday (snaffled one for lunch today :) )
Also 2 portions of mash from the sprouting pots.
OUT very soon will be half a bag of scampi and a few oven chips for a comfort dinner with a tin of peas after a manic monday at work:) I will also declutter another slice of the lemon tart before that goes in the freezer.

    Food spend - zero :)

I don't mess about with the water test. I break an egg into a bowl - look and sniff it.

In to freezer - HM Egg & Bacon Pie.
Out of freezer - bag of flour.
We had HM Egg & Bacon Pie + roast potatoes + roasted red/yellow peppers + red/white onions for dinner.

Cheapish dinner tonight - jacket potato and watercress. Did have butter though which I supposedly shouldn't.

I have to be a bit careful with my stomach. I had CDiff during a stay in hospital. I then had Campylobacter - again caught in a hospital!
