Eating out of the freezer and cupboards challenge - part two
Comments
-
I haven't been shopping since before Christmas and I intend to keep it that way for a few more days. I seem to have caught a bug over the Christmas period so didn't enjoy a Christmas meal. I'll make up for it New Years day.
All uneaten turkey frozen, and I'm going to freeze the rest of the ham tomorrow after I've thrown some into tomorrows soup. I spent more than I intended so I need to go through the veg and fruit and do something with them before they go off.
Back on the diet from Thursday, although I think with food not agreeing with me I haven't put anything on. (Got to look on the bright side of being ill LOL). Still got some chocolates left but I think I'll feed those to my DH as he can eat anything and not put on too much weight -sad!!
New Years Resolutions:- I quite intend to get my freezers under control.
To empty one of them before the summer so I can freeze home grown fruit and vegs, hopefully to last into 2015.
To do more batch cooking and freeze in portions so I'll have a choice and it will be quick and easy to produce tea. HM meals to be stored in freezer no 2, along with opened pks of fruit and veg, plus bread.
Freezer no 3 - I need to empty and defrost but at the moment it's got too much stuff in it to be able to even contemplate defrosting it. It will probably be the summer before it's empty enough.
The cupboards aren't too bad. I only intend to buy items to make the food (mainly meat) go further or to bake. No silly impulse buys this year.
I love the New Year it's like a New Start, a clean sheet and this year I aim to try and keep below my targets in spending and to lose weight.A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL0 -

Rofl yeah I was going to see if I could get my cholesterol re-checked as it should go down with what I'm now forced to eat! They want to stick a camera down my throat but I'm not that keen to say the least so at the moment bland food is preferable though I may have to give in still
Most meals lately are usually steamed veg, maybe a few grains or pulses/tofu, some salad and maybe a nut cutlet although I'm not really supposed to eat nuts either! (too abrasive at the moment supposedly). Am struggling to meal plan with so little foods/no flavour to work with and have had to buy foods I don't normally eat as I need to up specific helpful vitamins etc so food shopping has been a lot more specific lately.
Added in some root veg I dug up this week - helps the food bill. Going to roast/freeze.

Simple tea. Home made soft baps, nicely warm from the oven, filled with veggie burgers and lots of fried onions and lashings of tomato sauce.
The burgers were from freezer.
Also out of freezer, half a joint of beef. Bought from morrisons prior to christmas. It is awfully fatty. Couldn't see it because it was vacuum packed in non-clear plastic when on the meat counter.
Have cut it into chunks And it is having a long slow cook in slow cooker in a homemade pasta sauce. This will be tomorrows lunch. I also made home made garlic baguettes and a large tiramisu. With strict orders to adult children not to eat any of this as it is for tomorrow!
Have set the table ready for tomorrow and then there won't be much for me to do except to heat up the beff, boil some pasta, warm through the garlic bread and serve and enjoy the tiramisu.
