Small tub of rice (from neighbour) and some mince from freezer. Using tortillas up from fridge before they go off and have courgettes but only just picked them. Looking for inspiration for today.0

Hi,
Newbie here. Found myself gravitating towards this thread after doing a complete stock-take of my cupboards, fridge and freezer at the weekend. I have enough food to feed an army but there is only me at home unless my girls are home from Uni. I am both appalled and ashamed by the amount of food that's in them and yet I still find myself at the supermarket...
Going to challenge myself to a no spend September where food is concerned. It will be a real challenge for me as I have a really daft phobia about reheating food in the microwave etc.
I may need a little hand holding now and then!!0 -
Didn't make the cauliflower and blue cheese soup yesterday as it was too warm.
Got out some Linda Mc rosemary and red onions sausages and made some scotch eggs for lunch today. Also pork steaks for tonight's dinner.
Have just got out some skirt beef and will be making a beef biriani for dinner tomorrow night.

I am sure you can manage a nil/small spend in September. Is it the microwave that is a problem or the actual reheating of food?Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

It's actually a bit of both. Completely irrational and no reason for it. However in a bid to save some cash, I have started putting leftovers in the freezer so I have got to get over this!0 -
Having low fat burgers in wholemeal buns for dinner tomorrow, along with some chips & salad. Will need to get the burgers and buns out from freezer later ready for tomorrow.
