Hello, I used vac sealer yesterday and got 4 meals from the pork, 3 in freezer, also put single portion veggies for me and bought some of the small bags from Lidl but although I am OK sealing the bags, I do not seem able to suck the air out - I am sure its me being stupid - have even looked on UTube. Will have another go when I room in freezer. Merry Christmas.0

Since last Thursday, 600gr reduced price mushrooms purchased. Present food "stocks" continue to decrease. Been mainly using up lots of previously purchased reduced price "Tofoo" (i.e. tofu).0

I always read this thread with interest. Now I am looking forward to joining it well and proper in January, as DH and I have decided to do a minimum spend January. It will never be a total no-spend and we will budget for odd treats (life's too short) but really want to eat out of freezer and cupboards (and a few greens still in the allotment) as we can. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

Last couple of days.....out of freezer - small gammon joint, packet of wraps, an individual chicken pie and bag of 3 meatballs (I portion the meatballs up to add to the HT's meals). Into freezer - nothing. Out of cupboard - small tin of baked beans. Out of fridge - some bacon and some cheese. Into fridge - half a tin of baked beans that will be used up tonight.0

You must make sure top of bag is clean, if the produce you sealing touches top it will not vacuum, wipe with paper towel everytime, however, I was vacuuming salmon portions the other day and no amount of cleaning works, just too oily, I squeeze as much air out as I can and seal manually.
Many thanks, will carry on trying, I am sure it helps and is better than the old plastic bags even if I cannot get all the air out. Have a bril Christmas x0 -

Since last Saturday, reduced price broccoli purchased. No Xmas Eve food "bargains" found (by somebody who shops for me). Nevertheless, my online (food) order is booked for Thursday. Will continue with my goal to use up existing food "stocks" in the meantime!
P.S Caterina, pleased that you have got some "interest" in this thread. Good Luck.0
