Yummy soup. For the equivalent of each courgette that you use you will need one chopped onion, one veg stock cube and one pint of water. Place all in pan and simmer until courgettes look cooked. Let it cool a bit. For each pint of water that you've used you add one third of a tub of garlic and herb soft cheese (or whatever soft cheese takes your fancy but I like garlic) and blend.0 -
Out beef cubes and ys chopped onion + 1/2 tin soup and some v strong gravy gubes from freezer. In SC but will end up with putting 3 meals back in.
Out 4 chicken thighs, yet to decide on actual meal but will end up with 3 meals going back in freezer.
Basically, less room than I had to start with - good job I have taken out about 4 pints of frozen milk the last few days and loaf of bread.0 -
I am clearing out my freezer today, or at least the one which has meat and fish etc. in it. Since I unexpectedly went Vegan I haven't of course bought any more and I gave away the large joints quite early on. I found a drawer of cheeses, unlabelled things etc. and a few items with freezer burn and put them out in the rubbish because I didn't know anyone who would want them. I've since found another couple of drawers with some really good cuts and have offered them on Freecycle suggesting someone's pet is in for a treat. I hope their owners will also benefit because it's really all too good for Fido! I will then have lots of space and can batch cook veggie dishes, store grains etc. There's easily £2-£300 worth of meat going begging so I hope it goes to a good home.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

Thanks for your message Caterina. (I also like straining store bought yoghurt and making use of what has drained through).
Local weekend shopping were reduced price 4 packets of Brussels sprouts/1800gr raw weight/total cost: £1.16. Discarded weight made it 1598gr. All of these were prepared and stored which took some time!
One more day to go this year before I assess how doing this challenge went in 2018.0 -

I'v been shopping today so thought that this would be a good time to start properly. We are well stocked up.
Out : freezer - chicken joint with stuffing
tub of soup for tomorrows lunch
half a loaf of bread
various portions of veg to make roast dinner
In : freezer - bag of mini potato waffles
small loaf of wholemeal bread for me
fridge - bacon, plain yogurt, mushrooms
tub of soup from freezer defrosting
I'm expecting leftovers from dinner to go into the fridge/freezer as well so I'll update those tomorrow with the "use ups".0 -
I've just completed my inventory for 2019.
Will try hard to use up the best before date items in January (as I failed to do that in December) My plan is to ensure that I don't add to it each month. I've had 5 days out of the house during the holidays so that didn't help.
I was thinking of going shopping today. I've no fresh veg in the house for today or tomorrow (or any other type). I was supposed to be going out tomorrow but that's been cancelled. Had I known I wasn't going back to my daughter's on New Year's day I would have reduced her sprout mountain.

I have way too much food and it's very unorganised. I'm not sure I'll manage an inventory yet, but I'm planning on using what I have for a while, so hopefully you'll helpfully you'll help me stay on the straight and narrow!!!
Today's dinner is a roast, using the left over fresh veg from Christmas together with a Christmas pudding in the cupboard from last year.
I'll make some extra yorkshires from scratch as that's my son's favourite.0
