Enjoy your veg box Gonzo, I love having them arrive! I've missed them over the summer while I have my own veg (which is far muddier..). I got a voucher for A&C today as I haven't used them in a while.
Edwardia, these are hm ones, going to put them in a tagine tomorrow with some chickpeas and whatever veg I find. I would probably be best avoided if anyone took my jars or even worse (given how much they cost) preserving pan for DIY! Well done for the £217 too, I itemise everything here so I see exactly what goes where though unfortunately it's only ever my money!
For anyone wanting new cook books, currently cheap on Amazon, can recommend the HFW veg one, I got it when it first came out and probably 3 times the price:

Dinner was as planned, I cooked 4 baking trays of beetroot and carrot slices in the oven tonight, will go in the freezer, was lovely and sweet even though the beetroot had got quite big being in this late. Got a lot more to cook but will do them another day.0 -
I opened the tahini tonight, it's bb2011  looked/smelled ok but it's virtually solidified and is too solid to stir the oil back in. I might bin it as a bad job but now I've got into the salad dressings I might re-buy it and use it this time..
I wouldn't worry too much about the BB date (I never do:)). If it smells OK it should be fine to use; if the oil has gone rancid, you'll definitely know by the smell.
But once it's solidified it's pretty much irretrievable, though one suggestion I've heard is to put it in a food processor and blitz it.
Some good tips on tahini storage here

Oh it's in the bin now... As I was digging it out with a spoon, which was really hard work, I did wonder about putting it in the processor! Still smelled good too.. I did eat some last night as a test - I wasn't illGoing to buy some more this week as I've typically found a new recipe I want to make.
Also binned the month out of date tofu, still looked/smelt ok but I wasn't sure as it was a sort of fresh item.
Also had to bin the rest of the cheese as it was thick mould.
Not a good day for my £ spent... but I am much more careful usually these days and have had very little wastage this year since being on this thread!
Edit: just found Riverford harissa with nice mould growth - so binned too.. I wasn't that keen on this hence why I hadn't used it all.
While I was in the fridge I threw out some leeks and salsify that had been in the fridge since before summer *shame*
Also binned some protein shake (free sample) that I was never going to drink.
Getting nice and tidy here!0 -

Kirri, I haven't used harissa since going organic, always used to use Le Phare du Cap Bon in a tube before. Was yours in a jar ?
Have had the mould prob with organic pesto in a jar until I tried this.. first off, after use make sure you push any pesto on the insides of the jar down with a clean spoon. Once you've cleaned off the sides, then add a teeny bit of olive oil over the pesto so it forms a film shutting out the air. I've not had the olive oil go hard myself when it's just a tiny bit on top of the pesto. But if it does it's not harmful.
As we're doing Confessions of a Fridge Hoarder here I will confess I have a quarter of a red cabbage, a quarter of a large swede and a half of a large radicchio in the fridge and I'm contemplating soup but wondering whether it would come out some horrible brown colour OH wouldn't touch.
OUT larder
Amisa gluten-free buckwheat crispbreads for OH's lunch tomorrow which he really likes. http://www.amisa.co.uk/product-474-2.html The texture reminds me of Wotsits sort of flattened out and without the cheese powder.
Carrefour Reflets de France free range additive-free pork pate from Brittany. This is so good it gets me off the hook for ever having to mess around with a food processor doing it myself. AFAIK it's only available from Ocado (offer)0 -
I've pulled out a left over portion of beef casserole that I am going to turn in to a beef and vegetable pie for dinner tonight. I'll serve it with three veg mash and gravy.£36/£240
