^ ^ Yesterday's meals were WAY better than the offerings today!! I can't wait till the veg box arrives with a few extras to make more exciting meals..
Lunch - a tiny crust of bread toasted with jam. Need to make more bread tomorrow. Didn't have anything else suitable for lunch.. was starved.. Had some fairy cakes to make up for lack of lunch.
Dinner - the final frozen tagine portion I didn't like, with brown basmati rice. Not the best dinner but stopped the hunger. It was either that or cook up some other pulses... tried to improve the tagine by adding in preserved lemons, harissa and spring onions. Worked slightly but I didn't enjoy it.0 -
In to freezer - portions of the Chorizo that I opened tonight.
Out of freezer - nothing.
We had stir-fry - Mr F got whoops rice noodles yesterday. I used 6 onions, 2 sticks of celery, 8 cloves of garlic and some Chorizo. Total cost of 2 meals - approx 80p.

Flo 6 onions?????????? lol are they tiny? just for 2 portions or are there more portions left, at least onions are known to reduce blood pressure.
my fridge Is a bit empty, had the rest of the pork, my grandma gave me mackerel pate, so I used that.
my shopping habits are getting out of control, I will only shop twice a week now, setting myself a budget again.Lose 28lb 3/28lb

I made 3 portions. The red onions were tiny. The white ones were just a small/medium size. We love onions and I have lots in stock that need using. I got one of the big sacks from Lidlo.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

6 onions and 8 cloves of garlic
Even as a veggie I'm not sure I could eat an onion/garlic/celery stir fry!0 -
Evening all, time seems to have run away from me today, who knew filing a tax return could be so engrossing :rotfl:
Yum to the onions and garlic MrsF. Do you like chilli and spicy food too? A good hot curry or chilli is one of my favourite comfort foods. And Kirri, I was feeling slightly sorry for you with just a weeny little bit of toast to eat, until you mentioned the cakes and now I'm jealous again!
Very dull meals for me today, just boiled egg on a crispbread this morning , tinned sardines on crispbreads for lunch and a salad this evening. T'was all tasty though and I got my '5 a day' in so the nutrition police won't come and arrest me just yet. Although I think I could easily have managed some of your mackerel pate too Ms Night Ryder (yum!)0 -

Wow that sounds very low cal! I'd be starving on that!
I've just had fairy cakes for lunch again, been out so hadn't had chance to make anything..
New Waitrose Kitchen mag is out - I fancy trying the Zaatar and feta puffs and the Ottolenghi aubergine and giant couscous dish.
Lovely veg salad box arrived with more cheese and eggs. Might have omelette and salad tonight, may add either the last portion of patatas bravas (Waitrose have a recipe card out for this at the moment) or the rest of the asparagus.0 -
Hi all
Kirri my salad was a mega one so I wasn't hungry, but I'm planning a bit of a treat tomorrow (cream tea in John Lewis when I pick up some shopping) to take advantage of the calories I've saved. Not being hungry doesn't mean I'm not greedy though, so it's probably a good thing that I don't keep much of a stock of food!
I got a bit carried away this morning and have bought a leg of pork joint as it was better than half price but now I don't know what to do with it. The general advice on the internet seems to be to roast it (it is too big to fit in the slow cooker anyway) but I'm wondering what to do with the leftovers. It is a BIG joint so I was thinking that I could do some of the leftovers with a spicy tomato/bean mix but other than that I'm stumped. Any ideas?
Your meal plan sounds delicious as always Kirri.0 -
^ ah the cream tea sounds better
Hope you've also got the JL card to get the monthly free drink/cake?!
Not that I'm a meat eater but I did used to enjoy sweet & sour pork many years ago so I'd go for something chinese style for the leftovers..0
