I have always done it. When I was bringing up my family - I did mega bakes so some went in the freezer. I did an 8 egg mix in the Kenny - so made a Victoria sandwich & traybake & cupcakes with it. Sometimes I made a trifle sponge and less cupcakes or all tray bake sizes. Then I froze what I didn't need straight away - undecorated/uniced of course.
There is only Mr F and I so 8 cakes will last us 4 days. Therefore I put the other 10 cakes in the freezer so they don't get wasted.

You can put cakes in the freezer?

My mum used to freeze cakes - I used to get home from college years ago and eat swiss roll straight from the freezer..

I eat cakes too quick to freeze myself :o

MNR - I want to try making veggie burritos.. not sure where to start!

I had mini veggie pies and last of the potatoes last night, bit of a stodge fest but week I've had I could just about bother to cook that! Will eat with family today and new veg box just arrived so will start on that tomorrow.

That's the recipe I use, I just use what I've got at the time.

I regret putting any in the freezer, I'm having one for lunch.

    Unsure whats for dinner.

    Out of freezer - nothing.
    In to freezer - Herrings.
Mr F got 5 Herrrings for £1 at the market today. They were being sold at 3 for £1 but these were the last ones left.
We had HM wedges + smoked mackerel/herring + mushy peas for dinner.

  • Hope you don't mind me butting in as I'm just a newbie to the site and can't join this thread as I don't own a freezer, BUT I am addicted to the photos of your meals! :rotfl:I'm even dreaming about FlorenceM's potato wedges and log on every evening for a quick drool before eating my dreary suppers. Starting to think I might have to buy a freezer... unfortunately I'd have to buy a bigger house to put it in first:rotfl:

Found this a bit late, but better late than never. Since Jan 2014, I am working through my freezers, and cupboards. I do buy a lot of food, my daughter calls me a doomsday prepper - have always been this way, especially food in the freezer and cupboard staples.

However I threw out a very large bin bag of expired food (Jan 2014), and gave away what I knew wouldn't be eaten. Easily £100 worth of grub in total (I know - before you all start).

Since then I have been incredibly sensible. We have been eating out of our main freezer - very little in, apart from Salmon, which is eaten regularly in our house. I shop once every 10-12 days, mainly for milk, bread, eggs, water, fresh veg/fruit at market once every week though. Fruit is consumed in vast quantities especially by my daughter.

Will go back to making own Chicken Kievs, and buying whole chickens to portion up.

Shopping bill has dropped like a stone and amazed if slightly worried at space in cupboards/freezer (tremble), slightly tempted to fill - but won't.

Money isn't a problem, but realise the need to stop wasting food and overstocking - the winter is over, and no need to worry if we can't get out to shops.

I blame my mother for doing this to me :^)))

If you want loyalty - get a dog:rotfl::rotfl:

All my posts are my opinion, and the actions I would take.

Welcome OBNW their pics look good enough to eat and put my dinners to shame most evenings.

Welcome to the club km, my mum is responsible to my bargain hunting and stocking up. Even if you don't need to cut back spending, saving money is always a good thing

Had the fish from the other night with cheese sauce and some veg out of the freezer.
