mobileconnectionsonline past history is not good.I recommend to stay away from this company.0

I've already got the phone from them ... too late for me now. Will see what would happen during cashback.0

I've ordered a phone & waited for port to Vodaphone. Contradictory info from customer services, verifications and Vodaphone. This morning the MPotW website seems to have disappeared and no response from any of their phone numbers. Anybody know what's going on?
More importantly, where shall I order now - I want a 12 month cashback deal and my Orange PAC expires on 23 July? Help!0 -
Update..
02/07/07 Ordered phone from Mobilephonesontheweb. Submitting also, PAC code as instructed for port from Orange to Vodafone.
(Contract with Orange to cease 06/07/07)
05/07/07 Called Vodafone to check porting successful. (or at least been contacted) They confirmed that someone HAD processed PAC code with them the day before (04/07/07) and account now with them.
09/07/07 Orange take a direct debit from account (even though should have terminated with them altogether on 06/07/07.
I email Mobilephonesontheweb to say not received phone yet.
Meantime, sim card is still fully active under Orange (???) Check bank account online to discover only direct debit set up is with Orange (not Voda).
Today I call Orange who tell me no port had been requested from Vodafone.
Even if I now cancel with MPontheW (and I guess Voda?) I still have to pay two lots of direct debit to Orange as they've told me I have to give them another 30 days notice of cancelling contract with them, as of todays date, and they'll send out another PAC code.
arrrrrrrrrrggggggg....help. Anyone. Please??0 -
A question for those of you who have taken the plunge with this increasingly dubious looking outfit!
They say (amongst a lot of other things which they don't seem to live up to) that "your unique Cashback Claim Code (CCC), which you will receive with, or very soon after, your handset." DID you get a code with the handset or shortly after?? Apart from the id c**p and the lack of addresses provided for that and claims, this WOULD seem to be an essential point if anyone is to actually GET their cashbacks in a many months time, so it would be helpful to know the answer!

The cashback claim code is printed on the order form that comes with the handset, under 'Order details' on the right hand side.
I notice that they have now deleted the bit from their sales T&C which says that they are going to refund the £1.00 credit card authentication charge after 7 working days!
Dubious looking or not, they have certainly chosen the wrong group of customers to pick on (i.e. members of this site). We may be losing a few battle to them but with our persistence and perseverance, I am sure we are going win the war against them by claiming all the rightful amount of cashback due.0 -
Thanks for that; I reckon so! I did print out the t&c relating to the £1 a day or so ago. The credit card company should refund it but it's still annoying. Looks like this might be another company which promises the moon with no intention of delivering anything! What a disappointment! Almost worth challenge though.... !0

I am sending the following letter to my credit card company tomorrow - using one of their prepaid envelopes, to dispute the £1.00 authentication fee. I suggest anyone not getting this fee back should contact their credit card company and do the same. This should act as a warning shot to them to get their acts together!
"Dear Sir/Madam,
Credit Card Account Number: xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx
Disputed Transaction – Date: 27 June 2007
Merchant: www.mobilephonesontheweb.com Birmingham
Amount: £1.00
Please find enclosed completed Disputed Transaction form in respect of the above item together with a copy of the Terms and Conditions of Sale of this merchant.
I ordered a mobile phone from this merchant through their website on 25 June 2007. Under their Terms and Conditions of Sale (see copy enclosed), they will authenticate my credit card account details and confirm that the details given represent an active account by charging a fee of £1.00. However, it also states that this £1.00 fee is purely for authentication purposes and will be refunded to my account within a maximum of 7 working days from the time at which it is withdrawn. It is now 16 working days since the fee was charged to my account on 27 June 2007 and I still have not had a refund from them.
I have sent two e-mails to both their customer services department and their complaints department on 11 July 2007 and 17 July 2007 respectively. Apart from receiving standard acknowledgements from them on 12 July 2007 and 19 July 2007, no response or explanations are received as to their failure to process this refund.
I am therefore disputing this transaction under the reason ‘Refund not processed’ and request a chargeback of £1.00 from this merchant to be credited back to my credit card account as they are not adhering to their Terms and Conditions of Sale in respect of this transaction for not processing the refund of this £1.00 authentication fee.
Yours faithfully."0 -
I see you've been thorough! As with all things, if people take it lying down these places get away with whatever they like! Good for you!0
