On the Scottish Power official website, when you try to get a quote, these tariffs exist:

Fixed Price Energy March 2015 (v2) Online

    • Prices are fixed until 28th February 2015
    • WithFreedom
    • Offer only available for a limited period and may be withdrawn from sale at any time
    • Early cancellation charges of £25.00 for electricity and £25.00 for gas will apply
    • Early cancellation expiry date - 28/02/2015
Online Fixed Price Energy December 2014

    • Prices Fixed until 31st December 2014
    • No cancellation charges
    • Online account management
Help Beat Cancer Fixed Price Energy January 2017 Online

    • Support Cancer Research UK
    • prices are fixed until 31st December 2016
    • WithFreedom
    • Early cancellation charges of £25.00 for electricity and £25.00 for gas will apply
    • Early cancellation expiry date - 31/12/2016

BUT, on www.uswitch.com, there is a tariff called "Online Fixed Price Energy March 2015", which is £5 cheaper than the December 2014 version.

The peculiar thing is on Moneysupermarket.com, even though I tick the show all tariffs box, NEITHER of the Online Fixed tariffs show up, but the MUCH more expensive "March 2015 (v2) Online" does appear. I declared myself as an existing Scottish Power customer, so Moneysupermarket.com cannot switch me to Scottish Power. I can only assume that they deliberately removed the two attractive Scottish Power offers hoping that I will then switch to a different supplier.

The non-existent "Online Fixed Price Energy March 2015" is cheapest and covers the 2015 winter, whereas the December 2014 only covers up to December 2014. I am hoping uswitch.com was given the information, but activated it too early.

This means I need to wait for Online Fixed Price Energy March 2015, which should replace Online Fixed Price Energy December 2014. I will then be covered for two winters, at a much lower tariff than the Help Beat Cancer Fixed Price Energy January 2017 Online.

Ideally, I want to ride my existing tariff until 31st December 2013,
and then switch to Online Fixed Price Energy March 2015 on 1st January 2014. Any success on post dated switch with Scottish Power?

I am in a similar position to you.

I am an SP customer on the Online Fixed Price Nov 2013 tariff.

Uswitch and Confused.com both show Online Fixed Price March 2015 at £1559 (for me)
MoneySupermarket, same tariff but £1710 (suspect v2)
Gocompare and Compare the Market don't show any Scottish Power tariffs.

If I go to the Scottish Power website the best deal for me is Online Fixed Price Dec 2014 at £1569. Only the v2 version of the March 2015 tariff is shown but it is much more expensive. In fact Standard tariff is third cheapest!

Bit of a loss as to what to do at the now, but rapidly running out of time.

    Because that is

Fixed Price Energy March 2015 (v2) Online, which expires on 28th Feb 2015

Using uswitch.com, there is a DIFFERENT tariff, NOT shown on Scottish Power's website:

Online Fixed Price Energy March 2015, which expires on 31st March 2015

Ah I see it. 11.204p/kWh plus 32.62p/day standing charge for electricity, plus £5 annual discount (for my area anyway).
  • I am also looking for this elusive ONLINE FIXED PRICE ENERGY MARCH 2015 but am having no luck finding it online as my Online Fixed Price Energy November 2013 runs out at the end of this month. It will be pulled imminently if it hasn't been already with the coming price rises, so ideally I want to switch over ASAP. I guess I will ring them up tomorrow and see if it is still available, of not I will switch to EDF blue price promise March 2015 as it's the next cheapest at £77 more per year according to the cheap energy club :(

Online Fixed Price Energy December 2014 has

    NO cancellation charges

so switch to December 2014, then to March 2015 when it comes out.
  • I'm on SP's Online Fixed Price Energy April 2014 (dual fuel) but I haven't a clue what to switch to. Are the 2017 "4 Winter" deals just hype? Cos I will end up paying £200 extra, per year. It all just seems like one giant con. Argh.

You have a good deal for the whole coming winter, and you want to throw it away?

I'm with Scottish Power. I noticed that March 2015 was cheaper than December 2014. However, I am wary about that. Me being me!

The main reason is that when you come out at March 2015, it will likely be after prices rises have already taken place.

But also, for me Pioneer Energy is coming out better for both a 12 and 24 month fix.

Ah, so maybe I should stay put. There's not much advice in the CEC for those already on a fix... And all we hear is, fix now for four winters for "cheap energy" etc...
