  • Incidentally, like another contributor on this forum, when we returned from the heat of the Canary Islands the staff made us put on our jackets as we were not allowed to carry them onto the aircraft, which was a bit of a nuisance but not a problem.

Is there a reason for this or do easyJet just enjoy being unpleasant to their customers?

If you're sitting at an emergency exit row or the front row you are not allowed to have anything loose for take off & landing. You either have to wear your coat/jacket or put it in the overhead locker. Nothing allowed under the seat in front of you either (again, just for take off and landing). This is normal safety procedure and is carried out by all airlines, because in an emergency those rows must be completely clear of obstacles.

(any second now someone will dive in to tell you to ignore me because they fly twice a year and know more than me - I only make about 40 flights a year)
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

But why was TomLikesSausages not allowed to carry his jacket on to the aircraft?

They don't, they even have it in their T&C that you can bring an overcoat as carry-on in addition to your single item + carrier bag. Some staff-member, quite possibly not easyJet employed, applied the rules incorrectly.

It's a good idea to be au fait with the rules. Tom could have refused to wear the jacket.

  • Under the new EasyJet rules you are still able to book in the old size hand luggage without any additional charge. However it can be put in the hold and not the cabin. If that is the case are you still allowed to take your Hand Bag and medicines onto the aircraft, as the original rules stated only one piece of hand luggage which must include your hand bag being put in your hand luggage or do you have to purchase the smaller size case to guarantee being permitted to take your hand bag ands medicines on board with you.

I was the originator of this post with the above. I wrote to EasyJet a while ago in an effort to clarify this point but have not received a reply. Maybe they are avoiding the issue, as obviously they do not want to put it on their web site!!! I have a lot of time for Easyjet and have always been happy with them. It is shame they are unwilling to state the rule on this subject, it was just give passengers "Peace of Mind"

It is obviously disappointing but not suprising that EasyJet do not answer your communication on this subject. They tend to be only interested at putting "Bums on seats" for their flights at competitive rates. They have become much more open and clear with their rules and regulations and it would be nice if they would publish their policy of this specific issue.

No, it doesn't help because if you read the thread, you'll see that we already know this.
