    Hello Ladies,

Tea, your clinic does sound most unhelpful. I find it really annoying that unless you ask a specific question, they don't volunteer anything. The Christmas shutdown is rubbish too-it just seems that at times everything is out of sync. We went through a phase of tests early doors that meant we missed out on a good 2/3 months of being able to TTC and it was sooooooooooo frustrating.

Sew-it: I'd give them a call...in my experience knowledge is usually better than the worry of the unknown...

T2D: I hope you can get started when you want. Sorry if I've missed it-what's the next step?

AFM: I am officially down-regged! I had my scan this morning and everything is as it should be. She even spotted a beautiful fibroid (not a problem, but she just told me so I'd know!). I get to start my menopur tonight (225ui) and had my injection lesson today, so that should be interesting. What do I do when I'm going out for an evening?

I've had no major side-effects so far except for headaches, but I can cope with that. Film and chippy tea tonight...can't wait!

Derby - I tried to do the injections at the same time (about 6pm) which gave me time to fit them between work and going out most evenings. I did have to do some in a car park at a funeral once though... that was interesting! When's your next scan? Exciting!

We should be doing chippy tea last night but we caved and had it last night... am over-disappointed that I can't now eat that tonight lol.

Glad I took your advice ladies, the waiting list is down to 20-21 months! That would be Jan/Feb for us :j eekk! Once you get to the top, it can be anything from 2-6 weeks to get an appointment.

So, much better than I thought. :)

Hurray for DR Derby2. Glad you had no side effects and good luck for stimms! I did my injections about 7pm, so wasn't too bad. Worst part I found was taking a nasal spray 4 times a day, first at 7am last at 11pm. If I was totally knackered I had to stay up, which annoyed me lots! (I love my sleep!)

    xx

Sew-it: Yay for the good news!

Tea: Do you know how important it is do them at the same time? in hindsight, 8pm is probably not the best time! I've got a couple of nights out next week, one with a hotel stop which won't be too bad, but one is just a leaving do. I'm doing quite well coming up with excuses for not drinking, but I'm struggling to come up with one for tootling off to inject myself! My next scan is on Wednesday...it's all very surreal. I know I am injecting and having scans, but it doesn't quite feel like I'm doing IVF (duh, duh...duuuuhh) (sorry-perhaps had a bit too much Halloween last night).

And BTW, perhaps mini-chippy tea tonight ? :-)

I don't know! I think I went with that as it was easier to remember. Are your clinic easy to get through to? Could try calling and asking if they are maybe. It seems a good idea to do them at a similar time of day but I wouldn't have thought half an hour or so either way would make any difference - although of course I'm guessing about that so please don't take that as gospel!! The only injection I remember them being strict about the timing was the trigger shot.

Don't tempt me with the chips, am starving today! :p

Have just arranged to go to the fireworks (that grumpy OH wouldn't go to) with my sister so that should be good. Feeling a bit mean about leaving the cat though... will leave the lights and TV on. Guess he'll just spend the time hiding under the bed anyway. Or am I being really cruel and I should be at home with him?

Long protocol starts on day 21 with down regulation then ovarian stimulation then egg collection & embryo transfer. Short protocol starts on day 2 with ovarian stimulation before starting ovulation suppression injections on day 5 then EC & ET; there's no down regulation.

Hugs tea. Infertility is a b*tch.

Thank you Rowin, the nurse basically fired a load of questions at us (do you drink? Smoke? etc etc) and then went through it all really quickly so felt a bit overwhelming and i forgot to make notes. Mine must be long then, because i call up on CD1, they send me the drugs and then bring me in to show me how to do them, then downregging starts CD20 something (i forget but must be CD21) and the whole thing takes about 6 weeks from then.

I'm sure the Hewitt Center decide to wait 30 days from our CD1-3 tests. Just to make sure we go through an extra cycle, relax and miraculously get pregnant. Just in case they don't have to pay for a cycle.

Yep :) One last cycle to go through. Was planing to be 100% healthy to give it my best shot. But very stressed with family illness, work and tiredness so now i'm just thinking F-it and I'm treating myself a big fat cocktail tomorrow night. Then be teetoal when it all starts (happy xmas!)

When will be your est. CD1 Peonie?

Good news about embryoscope/eeva eh? Thanks for that :)
Also short's thought to be less hormonally challenging. Down-regging effectively puts you in a menopausal state with its possible associated symptoms of hot flushes, mood swings etc. I've done both the short and long cycles and didn't find the side effects particularly onerous. Both very difficult emotionally but not physically for me. Guess it depends on the person though.

Looking forward to that then. My poor OH :rotfl:

Great news about down-reg Derby :) All going well so far!

I would appreciate any good excuses for not drinking as i'm going to have a lot of works xmas nights out. Most of my friends know what were going thorugh, so thats not too bad. But obviously I'm not going to be telling colleagues! I've used the antibiotic one already :)

That sucks tea. Are you at the same clinic you used for your last cycle? Could you try the infertility forums for suggestions on where to get the drugs?

Yay sewit that your wait will soon be over. Waiting while nothing happens seems to be the hardest part of this whole process.

Derby good luck with stimming. I haven't had have any side effects (yet!); the nurse asked me about mood swings this morning but none to report. I take my injection every evening between 7-8pm. As tea said it definitely helps doing at the same time everyday. I also have to take certotide at the same every morning so have to do it at work. One pack contains on dose so it's very portable and it just seems I'm off to the loo so awkward questions/comments.

No decent not drinking excuses unfortunately WTDN. A lot of my family, friends & workmates know about our IVF cycle so understand why I don't drink and I don't go out much with my workmates (too rowdy I must getting old!) It sounds like you're doing long protocol, good luck and I hope you don't have many side effects.

I might have egg collection on Monday; just waiting for the clinic to confirm. Eeek!

WTDN: I've been going about it backwards and making reasons why I have to drive, rather than why I don't want to drink. The first one next week I'm saying I don't want to get drunk and ruin the second night which has been planned for longer, and for the second one I will have 'indulged' too much from the night before. Let's face it, being of the age I am, they'll all be making their own assumptions. I just hope I can put them off asking the actual question!

I did have a family gathering in the summer where I was asked why I wasn't drinking, as I was standing there with G&T! Sometimes you just can't win!

Tea: I've got a scaredy cat too and we're going out. She will absolutely certainly be under the bed the whole time so there is no point in us being there. Luckily she also has a 5 second memory, so as soon as they stop she relaxes and gets all gooey again.
