Which bloods were done to confirm this ??

Hope you're all well, hugs to you all[/QUOTE

He was tested for cystic fybrosis, as the lack of vas deferens is common with being a CF carrier. It came back positive, meaning that he carries the CF gene. I then had to be tested, and we had to let his sisters know as there is a 1 in 4 chance any of them could be carriers and pass it on to their children.

Can I officially join you guys. Not sure which list I need to be on now, suppose the waiting for 'tests' one.
Trying to get through to the relevant place at the hospital for hubby has been a nightmare, to get in for a test. They never seem to answer the phone when they are open (which isn't much). So after 3 days of trying they still haven't actually answered the phone.

How long did people have to wait for an appointment at the gynae for day 21 tests? Even just to hear when their appointment is? The doctor said he was referring us I think it was about 3 weeks ago, but heard nothing, and I have no idea if this is normal or not.

At the moment need to concentrate on this, need to be aiming for something good in my life. Everything seems like a bit of a mess (someone has it in for us and is making our lives a living nightmare).

My GP did the day 21 bloods - well the GP ordered them and the phlebotomist did them.

We got referred to FS back in July/August I think. They sent a questionnaire thing and we were told we'd get an appointment within 12 weeks after we returned it. I'm still waiting. Dh's GP was trying to phone them, and apparently they don't answer the phone either.

Also, when I found out about the Trigeminal neuralgia thing and asked the GP about whether it would effect the fertility treatment she told me to relax because nothing would happen for ages - the first visit would just be an overview type thing and they wouldn't actually do anything for a long time. I don't know if DH's crappy SAs will change that.

Doctors said I had to do my Day 21 tests at the hospital, no idea why. It's a pain in the bum to get to the hospital at the best of times. I won't hold out much hope of anything happening any time soon then, just wanted to see what the norm was.
At least it means I'm doing the correct thing carrying on with it despite the stress the pair of us are under at the moment. No point in delaying everything and then having to wait ages anyway.
Thanks for your help code, really appreciate it.

I think a lot of GPs are referring people to the hospital for blood tests these days to save money - I'm guessing in the hope that you'll get pregnant naturally and they wont need to do anything. Mine is in a health centre and it shares the phlebomist with another GPs practice.

It's frustrating when it takes so long though. I hate waiting around at the best of times. I just need someone to say to me "These are your problems and this is what we can do fix them". If it turns out we can't have kids, I want to know as soon as possible so we can move on with our lives.

That arrangement sounds like a nightmare! Everywhere sounds so different. My gp did the tests and said that the gas wouldn't accept a referral unless you and oh had had tests within 3 months, and you had to have been trying for at least two years unless you had a diagnosis (I have pcos and had blood test showing I didn't ovulate so got referred after 18 months).

I got my first appointment within 8 weeks of referral but think that was more luck than anything else. The appointment was straight forward, going over history etc. they ordered hsg (which was a total nightmare to book and caused me to come the closest to breaking down completely that I've had in this whole horrendous process so far) and internal scan. Then I have a review in Nov (about 8 weeks after my last appointment.) they said if all my results were ok then it will be clomid for 6 months, then ivf after 3 years of trying......

At least it's a plan. Hope that gives you some idea of my steps but I think each area is different.

Welcome vesper. Sadly there have been quite a few people move across recently.

Re the lists - I'm away now for a week so I'm not updating them, so feel free to come up with appropriate categories while I'm away. :)

I'm still bleeding a bit, but not worryingly. I've got some first aid supplies and will hopefully be OK for the week. Feeling very stressed for some reason - hopefully I can relax while we are away.

I do actually have some TTC news. My NHS ivf funding has been approved, next appointment in early November - but I'm already down to start with the Lister! I'll stick with the lister (as they know me and my dodgy body, and have been working directly with my oncologist) but I guess I should do the NHS one as well as it will move slowly. If I have another go it would be nice to not have to pay.

    Thanks gals.
A bit of history for those that don't know me

Age 29 been with hubby since 2003. Haven't used any contraception since end of 2003. We got pregnant in 2006, it wasn't planned as such but it wasn't a mistake, but miscarried not long after we found out. It made us realise the time was right and started trying but not using any particular methods so I didn't know when I was ov.
Started trying properly by following Ov in around 2010, and using a cbfm in Oct 2011.
Hubby had mumps as a toddler and went for a test in around 08. It showed at the time that he had a low sperm count, but not sure on details.
Been to doctors, now trying to get a SA for hubby again, and been refered for day 21 bloods at local hospital. Waiting for appointment.

  • Hey all

    Hi Ladies,

I'm thinking of doing a simple version of the lists on the other thread, now that I can leave the main list of page 1.
    -

Thanks T2D - I'll update for this on Thurs as I have my IVF appointment. If all our results are OK we will probably be going in for IVF on my next cycle (probs this time next month as I'm CD1 today) eeeeek!

Can't believe how many of us are downregging now or imminently - good luck ladies!!

Code - so sorry about your OH's results. That must be quite a shock to absorb. Big squigy hugs coming from me to you

Big hug for AF PM xxx and one for you too MrsDavo

Totally with you Tea and Lucy regarding job hatred. I hate my job and would have left years ago if it wasn't for 'but maybe this is the month!'. Have fantastic maternity leave here so just trying to suck it up at the moment.

I've cut out tea and alcohol at the moment ever since I found out a friend of a friend cut out caffeine and alcohol after 2 yrs TTC and - boom - got preggers). Plus was trying to give my last few naturally trying months a good shot before IVF.

I am desperately craving a cocktail. This is harder than cutting out chocolate!
