Well I wasn't expecting my MRI results for another 10 days but got a call from my Dr this morning. I have a 'growth' on my pituitary gland :( Dr wants me seen as a matter of urgency by the endocrinologist or neurosurgeon. Who knew my TTC would take me here! :(

    Hi Skint_Catt

Following high prolactin levels I had to go for an MRI to check on the pituitary function. It was found that I have a microadenoma, which is a small benign tumour on the pituitary. I had to see an endocrinologist for the results. The endocrinologist said that these growths are very common, in fact they said that if they scanned 100 people, 10-15 would have this, and for most people it is only an issue or spotted if they are trying to conceive.

My treatment has been cabergoline one a week for 8 weeks (one tablet left).

If your tumour is larger than 10mm then it is called a macroadenoma and it may be that you need a small op to remove the growth if medication doesn't reduce it.

Try not to worry about anything until you see the specialist, they will be the ones who will advise you of the best course of action. I was terrified initially as you hear tumour and panic, but after I had seen the specialist I felt much better as I felt that I now had an answer for the reason for struggling to conceive and the endocrinologist kept saying 'When you get pregnant' not if which was nice.

    Good luck :)

I hate the clearblue advert.... well because you would take a test and tell your friend you're a week to 2 weeks pregnant.
Still not as bad as the baby milk one, can't remember which brand it is.

Infact hate most baby based adverts. Makes it look like life is only complete if you have the perfect ttc and pregnancy.

Tried to get a lie in this morning as its out day off, after declaring to hubby that I needed to stay laid down for a while after dtd. It didn't work and got dragged out of bed.

  • That baby milk one really is horrendous. Especially the bit where she gives the baby to her old granny - really hits a nerve with me. This is why I love Sky plus - just fast forward through the adverts.

Tea, I didn't realise your friend is a doctor - so insensitive. "Agenda"!!!

It looks like I might get a gynae appointment in the next couple of weeks to discuss removing these monster fibroids.
Does anyone have any thoughts on whether to take along the oh? I don't really want to in truth but I really hate having to explain things to him. I think it might be better for him to hear it from the horses mouth rather than hearing my interpretation (especially if it's bad news and I'm upset). Also he might ask questions I don't think of etc?

I would take my OH if it was me Clevernamehere, but that's just me. Like you said it's sometimes they think of different questions and at least you would have someone there for support.
But I suppose it depends on him with work, and getting time off. My hubby works strange shifts, and luckily all of our appointments have not clashed with his shifts, so he doesn't have to take time off.

Does anyone know where test results go? Hubby has a repeat SA at the hospital. This was organised through the hospital while we were at my fertility appointment. The original tests were organised through his GP. But will the hospital send the results to the Doctors, or straight to us? He rang the doctors earlier and they don't know.

So much for relaxing, they are digging up part of our pathway to put a water meter in. Our walls really thin so I can't even hear the tv over the banging.

Clever - I'd bring your partner with you. Just agree with him that if there is an examination you will be alone if you are uncomfortable.

I wasn't sure I wanted DH to go to my appointments, but I was really glad he did. He asked other questions, but remembered things I forgot. It's also much better than being interrogated after with 'why didn't you ask x or y?'.

Being there makes partners realise that things can be pretty overwhelming and sometimes the answers aren't clear cut either. I think some people think the visits are emotionless Q&A sessions where you think of every single thing immediately, and you get to stay there as long as you want to get every question answered. In truth they are rushed emotionally charged meetings, where you inevitably think of something afterwards that you should have asked.

I've had a lot of gynae appts (stage 4 endo, lots of operations) but I've never taken OH, or anyone else. But I think I'm in the minority of wanting to go on my own lol. When I have ops I get him to drop me off at the door then pick me up later - couldn't be doing with him waiting for me!

Felt v odd after EC as he was there when I came round.... definitely not what I'm used to! :rotfl:.

I am SOOOO fed up with this cycle. Now CD27 which is getting late even for my rubbish cycles. Don't know whether I've ov'd and the tests didn't pick it up or whether it still hasn't happened. We've hardly DTD at all (and OH is currently ill) so we won't be getting a pre-IVF miracle... but I really want to know when we can get going again. The drugs are here and I'm ready to roll!

When are the OTDs - are we getting close yet??
  • Hey Tea, we're pretty much cycle buddies. I am CD29 today. I guess I could say I'm late but I know that i have had a couple of 30 day cycles over the TTC months.....

I just want AF to arrive so I can book my HSG!

    xx

ETA: my colleagues must think I have a "problem" today. I keep going to the loo on OCD knicker watch.....
