Jen - I'd be making a formal complaint, that is out of order. Get yourself a new GP pronto and ask them! Maybe you won't be eligible, but there is a way to tell you! X

Picklekin - our straight ivf on high dose of drugs was £3,500. It's not a cheap road to go down I'm afraid. X

T2D - thanks for updating the list, very good of you to keep us all on track. How are you getting on with the drugs? X

PM - I agree that although it's a pain, it might be a good thing to be moving FS. Obviously i don't know your medical history, but they put you through a lot to get an egg, then leave it up to chance/DH swimmers. If it were me, I be pushing the new FS for a new approach. Also why does your GP have to refer you, why doesn't your case get passed on automatically? Hugs to you, it's an extra hassle/disappointment when you realise that you can't start when you thought. X

Code - hugs for being back at work. Good you had a bug chat with DH. I can understand about not wanting to take the p&ss with work but this is a medical procedure that is going to determine your next move in life, it's quite important! Glad he gets that now x

Love actually - hope you feel better x

AFM - seem to be fully recovered from the scratch. Spotting all weekend and slight cramp, but just need to keep fingers crossed its worth it! Spent the weekend surrounded by babies. My dh is so good with kids (he's a childrens nurse) it actually made me really sad that I can't give him a child as he would be a great dad.

ICSI costs for us are £3500, £360 for embryoscope and then drugs. Initial prescription is £425 but might need a few extra bits.

Code by the sounds of things there isnt going to be a fs where i was at/ am currently at so need to transersfer. She did say that after a number of ov iduction treatments if no bfp has happened then assisted conception needs to be looked at but that dosent sound like a route were going down yet.

I need to find a cheaper clinic! £6000 is really too much to cope with.

Injections are going fine. I had a new one tonight - Centrotide - which is the ovulation prevention thing I think. Quite the faff to put together, and slightly more painful but otherwise fine.

Feeling really calm and good tonight. I had acupuncture with the lady I used to go to, and it was really wonderfully calming. Fell asleep, despite arriving all stressed and rushed about. I was a bit down by a mediocre performance review. But all gone in about 15 minutes of lying down, needles and music.

    Feeling very zen.

We're planning to move this summer if our next IVF cycle doesn't work. If the cycle does work then we'll move when our baby's 1 year old; we have to apply for a child visa to take him/her with us and that process takes about a year. I'm looking foward to moving but not to putting TTC on hold for 1-2 years while we find jobs, build up maternity pay entitlement and save for treatment. I have been told that fertility treatment is excellent in Australia and UK fertility specialists have learnt a lot from them especially about donor gametes. That gives me hope that if treatment doesn't work in the UK then we have options in Australia (plus IVF is cheaper).

Moving to Oz is my other distraction at the moment. Do you mind telling me where you are moving to? Do you have visas/aussie passports? We are waiting for DH's spouse visa, which should come through in March. So if this ICSI fails then we will hopefully be there by June'ish.

Thanks lovely ladies for the figures, seems a little shopping around may be in order! although I'm sure living in the south east we aren't going to come in on the cheap side.

I'd love to move to Oz, I often day dream about it with my OH, and look and the lovely houses we could afford!

    Hello everyone

My appointments have arrived - Blood test tomorrow and DH has a SA tues then consultant next Thurs. The lady has put all the appointments in so before next cycle start date (around 20/21st), lets hope the updated tests are as expected!

On a completely random point I spent all of last night wondering about my "outfit" for next Thurs... something that shows I am responsible "mummy" material... dear god I have actually gone crazy....
  • Hi guys

How we doing? I'm bringing my usual :grouphug: and :bdaycake:

PM - Sorry to hear about all this fussing, I remember how upset I got when they changed this Februarys appointment to June.

Code - That seems to be the only time we can chat, or whilst we are out to dinner. I think its because we are both too polite to start having a row in public! :D I'm terrible for storing things up due to my aiety but a good good clear dows wonders!

Jen - Definitely complain and go to another GP in the practice, ask where you can find a copy of the policies on IVF from your local PCT, this can give you some ammunition to go in with if it is different to what the doctor is telling you.

As for myself I think I've managed to persuade myself I'm pregnant which I did before. Some of you may remember I have problems with my lady engines due to hypothyroidism and how happy I was to have AF visit in November, well after that she hasnt bothered coming backlike she was supposed to on 22nd December after ovulating.
I've had a few BFN's since but havent done one for a week or so, but my boobs are really hurting and I've gone without a bra for 3 days now, I've also had a headache for a week, my back hurts much more than normal and my appetite has gone. This could all be done to my hypo though. I'm off to my GP tomorrow, hopefully for a blood test and that I will believe, I'm about to start 3 months of Provera and dont want to risk !!!!!!ing things up!

We have permanent visas (for 2 years ) and will move to Melbourne. We hope to be there by June as well (as long as the house sells...)
I remember cetrotide... and trying to prepare it in the disabled loo at work as had no time to do so before leaving for work each morning :D.

Star02 good luck tomorrow. Anything from M&S should be fine ;).

PM - what a giant PITA. Is your GP proactive and helpful? I hope they can push through a referral quickly.

Jen - that's outrageous especially as your GP should know why you need to use a surrogate. Complain to the practice manager.
