What a pita pm, although tbh maybe a whole new hospital might be a good move.

Sorry everyone seems to be down just now.

I visited my GP today to get a prescription fixed (idiot doctor ordered the wrong thing - it's a good thing the pharmacist knows me so well) and broached the subject of NHS infertility treatment to be told I can't have it because I'm not infertile and they don't fund IVF for people who don't want to lose their shape when they have a baby. I'm only a size 6 because I'm doped up to my eye balls!

So angry, OH said we should leave it but it's just so unfair. I'm definitely changing doctors surgery after today.

GlasweJen you really need a new GP - that is terrible. Does he actually remember your condition! GP should be your supporter and central point to manage all the specialists, time to get rid for sure.

Is it possible to swap to another clinic nearby?

Jen, I'm angry on your behalf! That is bang out of order and I'd seriously consider a complaint to the practice manager - to explain why you're changing doctors.

Jen, please change doctors! That's terrible. A decent doctor would understand your condition and talk over your options with regards to funding IVF in your situation.

Here are the Scottish guidelines, if you haven't seen them already..

    - I know changing FS is probably a massive pita right now, but is it possible that a different FS would perhaps look at other treatment options especially with your OH's low sperm count.

picklekin - I think the cost of IVF changes depending on your clinic. We'd be looking at about £8k but that's because it's ICSI with surgical sperm retrieval so it pushes the cost up. I know that some offer interest free credit, which is perhaps something to consider.

AFM, first day back at work sucked the big one.

*hugs to those that need them*

I got my OH to speak to our medical insurance people finally and they will allow me to go and see another gynaecologist, it will be great to get a second opinion and see if there are any more tests or anything they can do, before we start down the expensive IVF procedure.

I know its a bit rude to talk about money, but can any of you who paid for IVF tell me what it ended up costing, the web has wildly varying prices, and I'm worried about creeping costs of extra tests etc....

I'm going super healthy for a while to see if that can somehow make it happen naturally... I had a whole weekend booze free, a miracle for me ;)

I don't think it's rude to talk money at all. It's a big issue!

ICSI at the Lister costs me about £6200 or so for a full cycle, including a lot of drugs.
