I had acupuncture during my first ICSI, it was quite relaxing, but getting to the appointments on time in really bad weather was quite stressful! That round of treatment was unsuccessful and I didn't go for acupuncture during my 2nd ICSI which was successful, so I am a bit skeptical about it, I have friends who swear by it though, and I didn't pay anywhere near that much, I was £40 for the initial appointment and £35 after that, I had about 10 sessions I think.

Thanks for the reply mrs happy I will keep this in mind.

Thanks for the reply T2D that price you paid is quiet reasonable my DH is also saying the same he suggesting me to get the acupuncture but at a reasonably priced location indeed to do done google searches.

I am located in west London anyone from around here who knows a good TCM practitioner.

T2D I m interested in these hypnotherapy mp3's what are these? How do they help ?

I'm in west london too.

I used http://www.londonacupuncture.co.uk/. They have offices in Harley Street and at a gym in Chiswick. The one is Chiswick is good if you have a car as they have a parking lot so it's easy to get in and out. Not near a tube though.

If you want a more TCM experience, I also used a lady called Dr Liu for ages, in SheBu. I stopped as I had been there for over a year and felt I needed a change. She is lovely. Trained in China, and can also give you medicines if you want. It's not a 'luxury' experience, but you get a full hour - with back acupunture for relaxation, and then tummy for treatment. It's a classic small noisy little place, with just a massage table in the backroom - but reassuringly authentic!

    Dr Liu

She is something like £30 a session, or £23 if you buy a set of 13 for £300.

p.s. Edited to add - she also does a bit of cupping. I don't fully understand that, but it's only a minute or so, and I asked her to make sure she doesn't leave marks. It crosses my 'a bit weird' line, but it seems the Doc's feel it is important so I put up with it.

Re the hypnotherapy. People here talk about Zita West, but I downloaded 'Hypnosis for IVF' for £3.99 by Bree Taylor Molyneaux. Purely because it was available on the play store and I wanted something immediately!

The download includes a 28minute relaxation/enhancing fertility track, plus a few 10 minute tracks for pre-egg, transfer day, post transfer day recordings. They would be perfect to listen to during acupuncture as they are short enough to be sure to get through them. I really think it would help you to make sure you are focused and relaxed, instead of just using the time to run through the normal list of 10000 things that need doing!
  • Thanks for the website link. Chiswick is near by for me I don't drive
but my DH can drop me off I will take a look.

WOOHOO 2 girls from west London we must have passed by each other a few times without knowing he he.:D

That is so true relaxation is the key. I will take a look into these two

Whattodonow how are you going? I know I dropped you a quick note about DR on the phone, but hopefully things have improved.

I did a blog post when I was doing my first IVF, and here is what I said about DR:
"This turns off all your hormones, and I found it really tough. It’s a nasal spray – and it’s amazing that so much impact can come from a quick sniff in the morning. Which is what all cocaine users say I’m sure. :)

I found I was moody, and weepy, and just plain depressed... I was a bit of a mess at work if I’m honest, and I don’t think I really did a minute of effective work. Plus headaches, hot flushes."

    Then when I started Stimms:

"I was so looking forward to this! I was counting down the days on the down-regging until I could start injecting myself each evening. Who knew I’d so look forward to self-injecting! And the impact was immediate and positive. I cheered up, felt like my brain was working again, and have been feeling more myself. Still headaches, and hot flushes and things, but I can live with those so long as I’m not so bloody depressed."

Keep us posted what is going on if it helps you. It's an amazingly stressful time, and I've never even made it to the 2WW! A friend recently said it was the hardest thing she has ever done - the emotional rollercoaster made cancer treatment seems like a breeze! So use the support you can. We are all here for you.

Angel I think your husband is fab for sticking up for you with the super cheery in-laws! I think my husband would just nod quietly, and then discuss with me after, but never have the idea to tell them off!

PM Super hugs. It's been a tough year for you.

Sewit I'm bemused by you getting a scratch on CD12. I've heard it must be the cycle before, or during the same cycle. Plus that you can't TTC on the month when you have the scratch, and also that it is perfectly safe to do within a ttc month. I continue to love/hate the randomness of this whole process.

LoveActually Which clinic are you using? I live near SheBu (Shepherds bush to the non-locals. ;) ) and going to C&W ACU for this NHS cycle. I don't think paying a fortune for Acupuncture is any better than the 'cheap' versions, and the londonacupunture clinic are very focussed on IVF so they are good to go to. It's helpful that they understand the protocols etc and can actually advise you too.
