is anyone else suffering from heartburn? I've got a prescription on it's way for some more gaviscon, so I think it's just a case of tough at the moment! I just don't know what to do with myself when it hits, because it's soooo painful!!!

I had it so bad from 14 weeks that I went to the GP at about 17 weeks and got 2 months of prescription Ranitidine. Gaviscon and antacids weren't having any affect at all, i would get a lump in the throat feeling and building pressure for 48 hours at a time. I take a tablet in the morning and evening, but I still get the occasional evening of painful heartburn. Acid reflux and the lump thing were something I suffered from before being pregnant so it makes sense that I'd get this symptom bad.

Sleeping on your left can help as it keeps your stomach lower so gravity works in your favour.
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!
  • Thanks girls, I managed to remove it from my wall in the end but it had already been sat there for over 5 hours as I had been out all day.

They did mention another closer relative had told them who probably told them in confidence to be honest. But the person who posted is known to be VERY outspoken (recent FB status's have been awful to read and I nearly deleted them then) so I think by replying and then removing it shouldn't cause too much offence.

Will check my settings tho, thanks Marywooyeah :) x

As for the heartburn, I tried sleeping with an extra pillow last night so I was a little more propped up and it seemed to do the trick. Still think Rennies will be my new pal over the next few weeks though! Hope it wasn't too bad last night Emz!

    Morning all!!!

Thanks for the comments about signature... leftover from my wedding planning days on the weddings forum, so I just adapted it! :)

Kynthia, I have been making a real effort to sleep on my left, butI do find it tricky... I'm considering a pregnancy pillow, so if it will help wit my heartburn it's even more likely I'll get oneI think.

Faith... it's not too bad at night, it's random, I just get a sudden burst of it. Yesterday we were out and on our way home... longest 20 mins drive of my life to get home to the gaviscon!!! Hope yours was ok last night.

My sister in law posted on facebook when we were 12 weeks but hadn't even had the scan. I was soooooo cross. My settings are high though, and luckily I had an email saying she'd tagged me but it wouldn't go on my wall until I approved it. That was a tagged status though. Luckily apart from that I've been really lucky. Once I've told the kids/parents at school I'll probably announce it though. :)

Right... off to my INSET day. Have a good week everyone. :) X

Commiserations for all the heartburn. I'm like an addict running round the house when I think I've run out of Rennies, scrambling to find one! :p

Re Facebook, an ex colleague of mine commented on my pregnancy saying, "pregnant? Again? See you still like the boaby then!" Tbh it had me in stitches :rotfl:
Dunno if that is just a Scottish word but you can probably work out it means a certain part of a man's anatomy! :p

23 weeks today. It seems to be going quickly but at the same time my due date seems a long time away.

Hope you're all having a good Monday!

:rotfl: faith made me giggle! I too wouldnt have know what boaby meant!

You can tell that the schools are back in today, roads were a nightmare this morning!

My lovely friend at work has donated me a maternity coat, which fits lovely. That'll do now along with my big wooly poncho/cape I got last week.

Feel like my stomach has popped out again over the weekend.

Marywooyeah welcome! There's a list somewhere if you want to add yourself on.

    (Pokes her head around) :)

I have just had my 12 week scan and all is good after nearly making it here back in July. Very happy and just waiting for my nuchal fold results.

Nice to see some familiar faces :)

23 weeks tomorrow - soon off to the big board! scary

Am glad to hear that I'm not the only one suffering heartburn and scoffing Rennies. Was reading up on how to reduce the symptoms which include not eating chocolate, fizzy drinks, fatty foods etc and of course I went straight away and ate a MaccyD's and a chocolate bar :rotfl:
Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck :)

It is so good to be here.

They said that the fold was very thin but has to be combined with my bloods to get a result and they would contact me in the next day or so if the reading was high but otherwise I would get a letter.

I think the Midwife said it will be out of a certain amount so 1 in say 700 it won't just say high or low risk? Does anyone have any experience of this? xx
