    morning ladies!

    Scan today! :j
    Wish me luck.

Good result from your nuchal test jen.

I remember the midwife saying I don't know why they don't just put low or high risk on these letters instead of messing about with the ratio!
 Mini me due March 2014
  • Good luck for your scan today sjlou! Try and enjoy it :)

It'll be me a week today! Eeek never felt so impatient for a hospital appointment in all my life!

In the mean time I have a breakout on my chin, no visible spots yet but you know when they are at that stage when they hurt and you can feel them under the skin? that's where I am now :( waiting for this lovely pregnancy hair and skin that I've heard so much about to kick in! hehe

Still not gained as much weight as I had expected to at this point. I've gained 12/13lbs which makes me nervous as many of my friends had big bumps by this week in their pregnancies and definitely 'looked' pregnant where as I just look like I've enjoyed a couple of good meals. Don't get me wrong I feel more pregnant and some people can see a difference but I just want something more visible. That said I'm sure I will soon be wishing away the days to labour for being uncomfortable!
When we went for the 12 week scan some women were there for their 20week ones and they all had bumps...where's mine ? :( I suppose one advantage is not worrying too much about stretch marks just yet!

Don't worry Lush, mine didn't pop out properly until about 23 weeks. :) I'm still waiting for the great hair and skin and general 'bloom' to get here... :o I always joked that I'd be the kind of preggo who doesn't bloom but just looks fat and knackered... sadly that joke is coming true! :rotfl:

I also found that my bump got sore as it popped out so make sure you're rubbing something on it twice a day to keep the skin nice to help with the stretching feeling! :)
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

Sjlou - I have my scan today too :)

Are you going to find out the sex? I think I've decided to (assuming baby cooperates...)

  • Sjlou and Lannieduck - Good luck for the scans today! :)

    Welcome Marywooyeah and Samtoby

Lush lifesaver - that's a bit rubbish your midwife said not to take gavison or Rennies. I'm having my third baba now and with the previous two I drank gaviscon loads and ate as many Rennies as I could - not at the same time, with number 1 I took gavison then discovered Rennies were more tasty with number 2. I never had any heartburn problems in between pregnancies. It feels like burning at the back of my throat when I get it.

Sexki11en - you've been through quite a journey. Hope you're enjoying all the baby buying. :) you've just reminded me as well I need to make a list of things to buy. I have lots already but will need a mattress for the cradle and the cot, new bibs, changing mat, socks etc.

Jen - excellent results on your test. Must have really put your mind at rest.

I had friends round yesterday and they brought homemade cake, shortbread and thorntons chocolates. I have been making such a pig of myself. Plus I'd bought in stuff for them so I also have a cupboard of goodies that need eaten :D

ETA - can't believe I'm on my last week in this thread! 23+1

Ive had bad skin ever since I came off the pill and still is bad being pregnant, although not quite as bad. Im terrible for squeezing them!

Ha I remember thinking the same thing, and when we went to the scan last week, DH was comparing all the bumps in the room! Not out loud obviously :rotfl:One woman was very similar to me, 2 were much bigger, and one was a lot bigger. However, 2 of them had 1 child each already which Im sure makes a difference.

Plus the stretch mark thing, I know Im going to get them so I may as well ward them off for as long as poss!

Ive put on about 8lbs, but I did loose 5lbs with the morning sickness, so I had to put that on again before actually gaining anything. So Im not sure what I would have put on if I hadn't lost weight to start with if you see what I mean.

DH says I just look like Ive got a bit of beer gut or 'ate all the pies' :rotfl:Ive also had 2 people comment to say how odd it is to see me with a bit of a stomach though, and the kid I look after said 'belly coming on!' so it must be fairly visible to other people! Just depends what Im wearing really. If Ive got a baggy coat on you cant tell but can with a tight top.

So funny yesterday one of the children said to me

'Brown eyes are dominant so one day everyone will have brown eyes'

And I said well, its a bit more complicated than that, because of recessive genes etc, but I said I dont really get it myself to be honest but yes brown is dominant.

    Then he said

' I dont get it though, how can the Dads eye colour affect the baby? I mean its the mums who have the baby. Maybe its germs from kissing? Thats my theory anyway.'

And then shrugged his shoulders! I had to keep a really straight face as Im not about to tell him the facts of life :rotfl:Hes having sex ed at school in a few weeks anyway, but it just made me laugh how innocent he is because I know I knew what sex was before we had sex ed, plus they know the word 'sex' so now Im thinking, what on earth does he think sex is? :rotfl:

Think youre onto something there, my belly button is starting to look a bit odd already!

You saying that has made me think...I've had a lot of pains where baby is these past few days. Some stretching type pains and some feel more like stabbing which are eased with a little pressure/rub so wonder if that's the cause? I was worried it was something else yesterday but soon settled down again :P

I'm waiting a bit longer to buy any 'maternity' wear now. Will probably get remeasured for bras around December and will be buying a nice dress from Mothercare for Christmas day :) other than that think I might just pick up some t-shirts a couple of sizes up relatively cheaply.

Got cardigans on my Christmas list as I always forget them and then hate buying cheap ones as I worry they won't last but hate 'investing' as they aren't always worth the money..one of fashion/clothings catch 22s I suppose!

Trying to eat a bit more healthily now my motivation has returned. So chocolate cereal and milk with a glass of orange juice for brekkie, tea and 2 biscuits at work, got a chicken and bean burrito and salad for lunch then tea will be with the almost in-laws as we are going to their for tea and fireworks! we're having a nice homemade stew and dumplings. Fruit for afternoon snack attacks!:j

chicken and bean burrito and salad for lunch

    Did you make this yourself?

If not where did you buy it? I could kill for a burrito!

Ive started having fillings other than jam and chocolate spread in sandwiches now, as I can actually stomach them. I had a cheese salad one yesterday, felt a lot heathier for it! Im still on my ben & jerrys in the evenings though, chocolate brownie is great for warding off nausea :)

Has anyone else thought of names yet?

Luckily as we're having a girl (as we could not agree on any boys names and after a 'discussion' lol, after looking up names online the other week before our scan, I said Im not talking about boys names anymore as this could be a pointless argument - which it was!) we are already agreed on a first name, Ive loved it for years so knew if we had a girl Id want to use it, and luckily DH likes it too.

Then at the weekend we found a middle name we like too, which was a name Ive never even though of before, but we wanted an italian middle name to carry on a family tradition, but its not a weird out there name or anything, and really sounds good with the first name which we were at first finding middle names hard to go with.

Just hope when she comes out, she looks like this name now! :)
