lush what about wrap dresses? I got a couple from tk maxx that will last me all the way through for work. The material is stretchy and then you can adjust how tight the wrap bit is.

    So far i've got:
    * a cheap pair of jeans from primark (sizes come up quite big so worth a try on)
    * non maternity wrap dresses for work
    * Basic tshirts/ jumpers/ leggings from new look
    * smart dress from next sale.

Most of my jumper dresses I've already got fit me still so wearing them a lot!

Feeling very "not pg" at the moment!! I should be pleased that I'm no longer queasy, but don't seem to have any other symptoms atm. :(

Thank you! I'm usually an 8/10 in clothes (shopping mostly at Next/odd Primark piece) so will look to try those. Definitely prefer the look of over bump styles more than underbumps and know I will feel much more comfortable in those as I'm not one for low ride/hipster jeans.

Loving some of the ASDA dresses - and so much more affordable! Any idea if they are stocked in stores or just via George Direct?

It says "available exclusively online" so I'm guessing they don't have anything in the shop. I've found that to be the case with most places - that's why I ended up in Mothercare, just so I could actually try some stuff on. Places like Debenham's stock maternity bras and tights but nothing else.

H and M seems quite good for maternity wear and New Look has a huge selection.
  • Well I popped across and tried 3 dresses and a pair of jeans on - the prices are eye watering (£22-28 per dress plus £30 for the jeans!) but at least I know roughly what size I would be looking at.

Might have to think about ordering those dresses from ASDA to try, I guess I can always return them if not suitable.

I think Mothercare are reasonably priced for maternity bras so will pick up some non-wired 'day' bras and a pack f sleep bras from there. Saw some lovely patterned maternity tights in there too (ribbed woollen loveliness) so will 'treat' myself to a couple of pairs of those haha

Will try New Look for maternity jeans/leggings I think. Vest tops/t-shirts I will just get from New LOOK/Matalan in a couple of sizes up like I said before. Not overly keen on Primark but for the price I shouldn't discount them for those things (that said the last pair of vest I got from there are thinner than paper and 100% see through!)

Wrap dress wise bf's mum has tons of patterns so has said she will help me make a couple. I should be fine really but hate wearing the same clothes at work and at home just because they are the only things I have that fit yet don't want to spend a fortune on clothing for temporary us!

Asda clothes are pretty good, weve got a massive asda here but they dont stock the maternity ranges either, you can order online and collect in store next day in a lot of places, if its not right im sure you can return them to store

I bought three big bundles of maternity clothes on ebay for £60 and got tshirts, three next maternity work blouses, over the bump jogging bottoms, two pairs of linen trousers, a dress, summery sleevless tops that I'll wear over a white long sleeve stretchy tshirt, two pairs of smart maternity work trousers, a linen dress, etc.

I only wear bootcut Jeans and found the best are Mamas and Papas, along with their smarter stuff. I got a nice maxi dress and top in the ASOS sale and Debenhams Red Herring maternity range seems to be have colourful things in my style and nice coats so I'll take a look there soon. All of that along with tops I have that will fit me for a while yet mean I should be good for quite a few months, although I do need new work shoes.

Lush maybe just buy one or two of the more expensive things & then top up with basics from Primark/asda etc

Or work out what you'd wear most.

My two pairs of Asos jeans were £30 but I've worn them most days since buying them, so worth every penny as they actually fit properly!

But for tops I'm trying to buy cheap stuff or stuff on sale or just wear baggier stuff in my wardrobe but am gonna have to buy a few basic tops as most of my clothes are really fitted & everything is getting pretty uncomfortable already! New look has some good priced stuff and you can return to store if it doesn't fit.

I'd pay £30 for a dress if I was going to wear it to work all the time but not if I was just wearing it once then I might check eBay.
  • Yeah, I really need to sit down and work out the cost per wear value of things. Currently I need jeans that will take a heck of abuse (bench work at rugby etc) 2 casual dresses that will still look smart (for meals out/visiting people) 2 decent smartish dresses for work (have made a skirt and trousers from before I lost weight will work fine for now) and then I usually just pair my jeans with decent t-shirts/vest in block colours and a cardigan/jumper. I have one named brand tee I will pack away for a while and a couple of cardis which are fine. Cardigans will buy a chunky one in a size up from Primark/similar and wear with a belt other wise it will just be the £8 ones from Primark/Matalan as I never button them anyway!
Going to customise some other tops/shirts for work :)

The maternity jeans made me look a tad short with a low bottom but a bigger bump haha. Although my bump is quite wide it's not just a nice round one at the front at the moment!

I'm still feeling awfully sick in the mornings but been worrying the last few days as haven't felt movement yet... the sickness is a good sign right ?

I'm 17 weeks now, have midwife appointment on Monday so hearing heartbeat should reassure me. I got my flu jab yesterday which was fine.. then I went to the pub and the football with family friends, was a good night other than at one point in a black cab I had to quickly swap seats with my brother ( as I had my back to the direction of travel) and roll down window... I actually brought sick up ( sorry TMI ) but kept it back down as didn't want to pay the £50 taxi fine !! Roads were crazy in Glasgow due to the football traffic and a huge police presence so the taxi journey was NOT GOOD !!

Con - I didn't feel anything I recognised as movement until half way through my 18th week. Between 18-20 weeks is usual for your first and it's possible to take longer if the placenta is on the front. I got my flu jab yesterday too, and I think I feel fine apart from a slightly tender arm, so I'm glad I got it on my right so it didn't stop me sleeping on my left.

I'm signed off sick for the rest of the week, but I should probably go back tomorrow. :( Back to commuting and full days of work. My station car park closed last week and I don't fancy adding a bus to each end of my 3 hours of travel a day. So I need to find a new station to commute from, which I probably should have researched today.

I sat up until 2 am last night listing all our savings, considering our contingencies, guessing how much our buying costs might be and researching mortgage options depending on different deposit amounts, LTV percentages and whether we want to fix or fix and offset, pay a larger arrangement fee or a slightly higher interest rate!!! Hubbie would never do all this and would just pick the longest fixed rate at the lowest percentage with the smallest deposit, giving no thought to making best use of our funds and wasting the least money on interest charges. All I can say is at least he'll not interfere with whatever I decide is best for us, but it means I don't have someone to show off my hard work too. :rotfl:
