Just ordered ours!First baby due 3/3/14 - Team Yellow! Our little girl born 25/2/140 -
I'd be happy to go with the Britax if that's the case. Can you get a base for that?
I'm fairly sure this is the base we've got.Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

Becca -I really want that car seat even tho I don't need one. Will have to be sensible. Got 2 Britax ones, suitable for DD2 and my newborn.
I would love a pram too but I have got 3 already lol! One with a lie flat carrycot attachment, Graco lightweight one. I went off it and one of the wheels squeaks no matter how much I try with WD40. I then got an Out and About pram which is fab but big and heavy to put in the boot so I also bought a Mamas and Papas stroller which has an umbrella fold.
I also feel like I don't want to tempt fate by buying clothes. Even tho baby was really healthy and doing well at 20 wk scan I found out that I have a low lying placenta. Although it can resolve itself, I of course am focussing on worst case scenario and it can be really serious0 -
All this talk of MatB1s has reminded me to add that to the list I have no stuck to the front of the wallet I have all my maternity notes in! Also added the Sure Start Maternity Grant form to the list too as it needs stamping by the midwife/surgery
(a grant of £500 for those on certain benefits - can't remember which off the top of my head)
I have found some nice alteration projects for turning bigger clothes (e.g. mens shirts or ladies wear that is a couple of sizes too big) in to cute meternity ear (think smoked waist long shirts etc. And hack projects for taking a t-shirt plus some nice soft baric with a little stretch in to dresses etc so slightly less depressed about maternity wear.
Current thoughts are to buy:
*maternity jeans (fairly dark denim)
*maternity leggings
*maternity tights (black and tan)
*smart dress for work (seen one in mothercare)
*casual but pretty dress for over Christmas (again seen one in mothercare)
*various vests/long sleeve t-shirts from Primark just in a few sizes up (will add customised ruching/details etc)
Then will make/customise a few shirts/skirts/dresses to see me through************************************

I saw someone post about that grant on baby and bump so I had a quick check but it mainly seemed to be for women on benefits because they dont have a job like JSA etc, or if you do work and get child/working tax credit as I think you can claim once the baby is here, but if youre getting maternity leave and not working how can you be earning those type of credits? I dont really understand that type of thing! So just figured it was highly unlikely and left it.
I want to sew some stuff for the baby, just need to wait til we've found out the gender and then I can go fabric crazy!0 -
Ahh we get it as our tax credits include a severe disability element (bf) - maternity leave is technically classed as still 'working' I believe as you are still within a contract of employment and so still have an employer.
The form is a little long but every little helps so always worth a punt we figure
Anyone know what Mothercare's sizing is like? Going to have a gander across there during my lunch break but don't want to spend the whole time umming and ahhing at sizes! Also, never noticed a fitting room so hoping there is somewhere to try bits on!************************************

Ah so DHs are included too?
I dont earn much as I work part time due to my morning sickness but DHs wage will be too much anyway and Im assuming they class it as 'one' income.
Yeah you may as well get it, £500 could pay for the whole travel system car seat etc or buy a cot, bouncer, tons of stuff!
Anytime I see the 'murder' ball on the tv clips I wonder if Im seeing your bf! Thats what he doenst isnt it?0 -
Just delurking to reply about Mothercare's sizing - I bought two pairs of trousers last week and found the sizes depended on the type of trousers. The underbump treggings came up quite small so I got a 12 rather than 10, but the grey wool overbump trousers were fine in a 10. There was a changing room!
I'm actually not mad keen on the underbump treggings; they look nice on but I feel like they're slipping down all the time. Have got a bump band on with them today for fear of inadvertently exposing any tummy!
Overbump definitely feel more secure.
As for smart dresses for work, I bought this from Asda's maternity online and I love it:

Got it in a 10 but an 8 might have been alright, it's quite generously sized. I'm 15+5 by the way so not got an enormous bump yet but this dress will do me all the way through the winter. Thinking of getting the black one too.0 -

Thank you! I'm usually an 8/10 in clothes (shopping mostly at Next/odd Primark piece) so will look to try those. Definitely prefer the look of over bump styles more than underbumps and know I will feel much more comfortable in those as I'm not one for low ride/hipster jeans.
Loving some of the ASDA dresses - and so much more affordable! Any idea if they are stocked in stores or just via George Direct?************************************
