  • I keep glancing at people's buggies in the supermarket and thinking 'wow, they're much smaller than ours!' We always wanted quite a big robust pram (for off-roading ha ha) but I've yet to seen anything else as big as ours!!
I'm currently in the process of replacing my car (not necessarily because of baby, it's just had its day) but I'm thinking I'm gonna need a truck!!

    Thanks ladies.

Had mixed feedback at work from "yes, buy it they are invaluable!" to "oh no you don't need to bother with that, its easy enough to belt a seat in"!!

Think will discuss it with OH tonight after I've done a bit more research!!

Squ1rrel Ill be ordering my new company car soon and thinking of getting something bigger too. What are you thinking of getting?

that's a good deal on the oyster claire, shame I haven't had a proper look yet! Would have gone great with the isofix base!!

Teamlowe I'm going to see where the nearest kiddicare is and go for a proper test, thanks for the tip!

I need to keep remembering "There'll be other offers"!!

    Lol I like the Tweet!

Ooh Ill have to go have a look at the Oyster then. Looks similarish to the Giggle doing a very quick google search. Except that it is compatible with the Maxi cosi seats if you get an adaptor which would mean I could get the base for the car..

We went for a Britax car seat which was a bit less than Maxi Cosi and had the adaptors already on it. The IsoFix base was a bit cheaper than the Maxi Cosi one too (I think, OH ordered it but I'm fairly sure!). :)

One thing I've also remembered about the Giggle was that a few people put me off 3-wheelers saying that they struggled with them a little, it's more difficult to get the balance right when going up and down curbs etc. I'm sure that's down to personal preference, but if you're worried about being strong enough to push/lift the pram in the first place, you don't want to be worrying about controlling it too! Just make sure you try everything in store a lot and put a heavy bag in the pram to give an idea of how it'll feel with baby in it! :)
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

Ah yay Claire! Flutters are so exciting :)

I'm not sure ill get a deal on the Bugaboo but I'm definitely going to try!
Did you like any other prams?

Jox my friends have mentioned it & I wouldn't mind but I wouldn't want presents, just a get together with my friends & family would be lovely :)

    *lurking from Ttc*
worth asking about a deal as my friend got about 20% off when she ordered her bug at the show last year

My friend just came to stay with me for a couple of days with her massive 15 month old baby boy, he is a chunky heavy little thing!

I've been pushing this pram around - chicco - for 2 days and my arms are killing me!

    http://www.just4baby.co.uk/acatalog/Chicco-Nunu-Pushchair-Pramette-Cocoa.html

We've been for long walks, up hills (on pavements), on buses, the underground, escalators, gosh it's given me a taste of the hard life!

Pavements are in terrible condition, some pavements aren't lowered so it's hard to cross the road, getting on and off buses is so difficult, it's been pretty torturous, but I'll have to get used to it!

Bigger wheels might be better for me.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Claire - I'm also tempted to buy the Bugaboo from eBay as you can get a brand new one for about £200 cheaper. DH's not too sure though. I'd second Birdie's suggestion of the Oyster - it's lovely. If you like that, I'd also suggest the Mamas and Papas Sola.

We live fairly near to Kiddicare (about 40 mins) and went the other weekend. They had a whole floor for prams!! Only downside I thought was that they don't stock iCandy or Bugaboo which meant we couldn't side by side compare some of them there but can easily do this at other shops.

sjlou - Absolutely gutted I missed the offer on the Maxi Cosi Family Fix base - we're getting this to go with the Cabriofix which goes onto the Bugaboo frame. Most of the prams I've looked at you can get adaptors to fit the Cabriofix or Pebble.

On the subject of bases, when we went to Kiddicare they said that Maxi Cosi are bringing out a new set of bases to conform with the new laws that are being phased in on car seats. He reckons the new one will be in shops Dec/Jan so wondering if the Family Fix will be reduced to sell it off.

squ1rrel - what car are you thinking about? We have a Golf but when we went away in the summer with the pup, it was full to the brim! So we're looking at a Touran now. If we didn't have the dog, it'd probably be fine.

glimmerofhope thanks! That's great to know.

I'd be happy to go with the Britax if that's the case. Can you get a base for that?

I know when I was pushing the buggys in JL I was like wow this is too heavy on some & then thought omg there's not even anything in it! :rotfl:

I definitely need to try lots out. Saw a couple of people today with small looking icandys but it felt heavy in JL, but I think there's a few types although they seemed expensive.

Thanks Jennifer will take a look.

Yeah I need to go back to m&p Becca, had a look in their sale on Saturday at a few cute things but not really the buggys.

    Hi ladies
Can I ask.....when do you get your matb1 in your area? My midwife said I could get mine at 20 scan but I forgot (baby brain!!!) so asked my gp to write one for me. Phone the surgery today to see if it was ready to be told I have to be a min of 24 weeks.....Grrr! Instead I have decided to wait till I see my midwife at 24+4 as it will work out quicker and less hassle than phoning the surgery again.

Also starting to worry a little that I'm to feeling baby move as much as I did, esp at night, he use to move loads while watching tv. Now not a peep. I did feel him move around lunch time today so not really worried yet, just a little.

The form: I got this at my 25 week appointment. Don't forget your other half will need a copy of it to get his paternity leave sorted, too.

The movement: if you're feeling 10 movements a day there is likely no cause for concern, especially as you're still quite early on and they only seem to really ask about movements from 25/28 weeks. If you're concerned you should always ask your midwife, however, my baby goes much quieter when s/he's having a growth spurt (which coincides - for me- with much aching, tiredness, and peckishness) and the "routine" of when bubs would have their little activity session has changed massively a few times over the last 10 weeks too.

    Hope that reassures you somewhat?
