I had my first bout of heartburn last night, very unpleasant!
Well, I now have lots of baby boy clothes, courtesy of my lovely friend who has given me her little boy's hand me downs, a well dressed baby, diesel, nike etc, will be better dressed than me!0 -
I also think I have a gum infection so I've got an emergency dental appointment this afternoon, thank you lowered immune system.
Also I'm getting the flu jab tomorrow as I REALLY don't want flu considering how bad this cold/virus has been.
I am having a similar worry about my gum today, slight niggle started yesterday and now I was a little red patch between two teeth. Debating whether to give it a day or two or just call and get an appointment when possible.
In other news, all very good today. I slept through the entire night last night for the first time in weeks! Though on Saturday all day and all evening I was heading to the toilet and back at least once an hour - I felt like I never stopped!
Finishing a tad early today at work as I got in a tad early and have sewing class tonight. I'm loving it but it's exhausting - even more so now the teacher is extending it each week for five weeks so she can cut down the number of weeks she has to take the class!
Now people know we are having a girl a few friends have offered us little pieces which is nice - just need to learn how to politely decline some offers I think!
Suppose I had better do a little work - will pop by soon************************************

I've been feeling a million times better this weekend, also able to tolerate more fluids which is probably part of the reason I feel better. Yesterday watched football with some friends and then today went a lonnnnng walk with OH and the dog. Came home had a lovely bubble bath and now catching up on the weekends TV
Still not bought a single thing, think will wait til 20 wks scan, I said the same til my 12 week scan... i'm crazy I guess lol.
Same here hunHi ladies! Back at work after spending last week at home feeling tired beyond belief, think I must be anaemic which seems to be quite common for this stage of pregnancy. Haven't seen the doctor as I can't be bothered with the endless attempts at drawing blood so got some iron supplements which I'm hoping will do the trick and I'll mention it to the midwife when I see her next week.
I'm 24w today which means I have to move to the Big Girls' thread! Can't believe it, feels like I've been pregnant forever but also feels like time is flying!
My midwife told me I have to get more bloods done before the 28 week appt with her, but shes getting the nurse to do it so she doesnt prod me like last time with no result lol. although it wasnt her fault I was just dehydrated.Snap! :j Although hubbie is still waiting for January sales and I'm waiting for a house. How sensible of us. :money: I think being team yellow is curbing me from impulse buys. I saw a gorgeous Cosatto travel cot on eBay with only 30mins left!!! If I'd known I was having a boy it would be mine now......I think I'm a little sad about that.I found the local NCT group Facebook page and I've just missed the nearly new sales but the next are in spring, so looking forward to them.
I'm still off sick and now need to get a fit note if I don't go back tomorrow. I don't even know how to get one???? Considering I barely left my bed yesterday I doubt I'm up for a three hour car/train/tube trip and 8 hours at work for four days on the trot tomorrow. I also think I have a gum infection so I've got an emergency dental appointment this afternoon, thank you lowered immune system. Also I'm getting the flu jab tomorrow as I REALLY don't want flu considering how bad this cold/virus has been.
Claire if you feel anything that isn't ligament pain below your belly button on your front half then it's likely to be baby.If you look at drawings of your insides right now, most of your intestines are above and it's only baby in that area. Mine was moving so much last night I actually felt motion sick and tried to sleep propped up!
Congrats at your graduation Birdie, see you there in 3 weeks.
Is everyone else going to the loo about 4am every night, sometimes having a snack too? Also are your nails looking good? What to expect says your hair starts to thicken too but mine couldn't get any thicker anyway.
The intestine thing explains then why I feel like my ribs have no where to go and are actually aching on occasion! I also cant lean over the laptop and have to sit with pillows behind me. Oh goodness I hope it doesnt make me motion sick, Im prone to that, and with my sickness still continuing now at 17 weeks that is rather worrying that that could potentially take over!
If you dont want to go out to the drs, what I did last year after the mc, was get my Dr to write out the sick note for me, got DH to pick it up for me, and then I scanned and emailed it to HR.
I need to get my flu jab too. Yes needing the loo around 4am pretty annoying!0 -
fingers cross Claire it was a flutter - like butterflies in ur tummy?
Jox - im not having one either, well don't want one, hate being centre of attention though the girls in work keep mentioning it. None of my friends have had one so hopefully I wont either!
Mini rant alert.....DH came in from work 40 minutes ago, told him to pop his uniform in the washing machine as I am about to put it on. Put the washer on and clunk clunk clunk....what on earth is that noise, went to have a look and I only go and see DH mobile getting a good wash! of course it is all my fault as I didn't check his pockets....he walked through the door straight to the washing machine and stripped! I would have thought he would have taken everything out of his pockets.......I would laugh if it was the first time he has done this but this is actually his 3rd time! ohhh dear!!!
Yes just like that, never felt anything like it before!
I think I felt another this morning but didnt last as long.
Sounds as bad as my DH. On Saturday we were making a salad and I was making the dressing, but couldnt find the garlic that DH had pulled out of the cupboard anywhere, he kept saying 'its on the side', but it wasnt!
Anyway, I then half an hour later pull his washed and dried washing out of the machine, and a huge garlic bulb popped out.
Luckily the washing didnt stink of it and it hadnt come apart!Ah yay Claire! Flutters are so exciting
I'm not sure ill get a deal on the Bugaboo but I'm definitely going to try!
Did you like any other prams?
Jox my friends have mentioned it & I wouldn't mind but I wouldn't want presents, just a get together with my friends & family would be lovely
I pushed quite a few in JL and didnt like how heavy a lot of them felt to me! Or maybe Im just fussy and underestimating how much a buggy weighs? Im quite a petite kind of person though and DH went up to a couple and said press down as though youre going up a kerb, and I found them really hard to push on some! Which was why I liked the Cosatto. The car seat thing is just so annoying as Id 100% go for it if it wasnt for that.
Having said that I wonder if Ive just lost strength from my being sick and sitting on the couch for 3 months because is it just me, who if I crouch down to look at something on the bottom floor of a shelf in a shop, I cant get up again without wanting to put me hands on the floor or grab onto a shelf!
I dont know if its something to do with not using my legs much over the summer and just lost muscle strength or its pregnancy related or what, I feel like an old granny and in Boots I was crouching right down to get shaving gel and I got DH to help pull me up as I just felt like I couldnt do it myself!
I did like the silver cross surf as that felt fairly light too. I think I need to go in some more shops though as really only saw about 6 in JL.0 -
Catching up after a few days - hope everyone is doing ok - we need more recruits, there's only 3 lovely ladies under me and and I want to keep moving up the list :rotfl:
jox - oooh, you're heading to the BIG threadVery exciting
I didn't have a baby shower and won't this time. I actually don't know anyone who has had one.......
squirrel - don't worry, those feelings of movement will come.....
emz - glad your scan went well
smlsave - welcome back from your break....so tell us, what was there to do for a 2y old at butlins? We're debating centre parcs soon but still undecided......
eitwees - hope the flu jab didn't give you any side effects. I've got mine tomorrow, eek
lush - congrats on being team pink!
kynthia - sorry you're feeling rubbish, hope that gum infection is getting better. On the houses, I would absolutely go for the best house in terms os size, layout and location. Ignore what's been done to one or the other as over the years, you can always make it your own, but it's hard to change layouts and room divides etc. I'm starting to get up in the night for the loo about 3/4am @ 15w. Such a pain.....
becca - I'm sure you'll love the bugaboo. I knew it was the one for me, and I've not regretted a single penny of it and pleased it's still new looking to use for baby no 2. Enjoy the baby show this weekend - we don't get one in the North East
claire - I really like the isofix base systems. It makes moving car seats between our 2 cars a 2 second job, and it's supposedly the most safe. Belts would be ok, and I'm sure you'd get the hang of it, and it makes you confident in moving the seat into anyone else's car. For me though, I would only want belts if I didn't plan on really moving the seat much as fiddling on in the rain would not be fun, and would you have to belt it all in before putting baby in, or after putting baby in. Is is easy enough if you're on your own with no one else to help? I don't know the answers to these......Just some random thoughtsMy baby seat also had the option of attachding to an iso fix base or using the belt, and we did belt it up once or twice in a friend's car so it was good to have the choice. I hope those flutterings are happening again for you! :j
On car seats and pushchairs, I'd try to choose your pushchair first as then you can opt for a car seat that can go onto the pushcahir (if that's on option). Honestly, it's great when they're tiny, fast asleep and you're only stopping for 5 minutes and don't want to disturb them.......
MrsBunny - really hope that your pain eases soon..... ((hugs)) How nice of your friend to pass on some things to you too. I would go ahead and buy the clothes you'll need for the first few days. Most people (incl me) tend to buy 0-3 or even 3-6 months so the baby gets the most use of them. I found I had to return a few gifts for exchange though, as not everyone considers the change of season 3-6 months later, lol. You'd also want to wash anything first for the baby and you might be too tired to worry about it in the first week or two, so I'd make sure to have a few things, just a few vests, babygro's, cardi etc as you said. Your hubby can always go and get you anything extra you might need. Mine picked up some vests whilst I was still in hospital and also went to buy us a smaller snow suit (born in Jan) as the one we had drowned him as he was under 7lbs when going home. :rotfl:
Birdie - Enjoy the BIG thread. I'll see you in 9 weeksand you'll be 33 weeks by then :j

I can answer these.
"... it's supposedly the most safe"
I went to a lecture on car seats given by a retired road safety officer, and he claimed they were both as safe as each other. He'd just bought a belt-in seat for his granddaughter.
"...I would only want belts if I didn't plan on really moving the seat much as fiddling on in the rain would not be fun"
Takes about 5 seconds to belt in. So an extra 3 secs in the rain perhapsPlus you can only move an ISOfix seat into another car as long as they have ISOfix...
"...would you have to belt it all in before putting baby in, or after putting baby in"
Either is fine. To start with, probably easier to put baby in first because otherwise you have to slot them under the lap-belt part.
"Is is easy enough if you're on your own with no one else to help?"
Yes. Easier to have one person doing it than two people really.
All that said, if I'd been able to have an ISOfix for my first car seat I would have done, just through laziness :rotfl:But I don't want anyone to get the idea that belted seats are difficult or less safe. They're pretty straight-forward when you figure out how.Mortgage when started: £330,995

Yep that's usually me! 2.36am and 4.00am exactly appear to be the times I need the toilet every night!
We've bought a belt-in car seat for stage 0 as we will be buying a maxi-cosi axiss after that anyway - we only have one car though (at the moment) and both sets of granparents will likely have their own (bf's parents already do, we will pick up an affordable, size appropriate one for mine in due course!)************************************

Hi everyone, we've just had our 20 week scan (at 21 weeks) and I'm extremely chuffed to say that we're TEAM PINK!
The midwife said she can only be officially 80% certain but I'm over the moon anyway.
twigpig - DS loved Butlins and he's 2yrs4mnths. We were lucky to have a couple of sunny days and spent them on the beach which is over the road from the Minehead resort. The swimming pool is lovely and they have a mini fairground called Bob the Builders World with rides for the toddlers. Then there's the 2p slot machines and lots of mini rides which DS just liked climbing in and out of. And the indoor soft play area and shows to dance to - can you tell we enjoyed ourselves?
Re car seats - don't forget to think about how many you'll need. The first car seat is easy to pop in and out of the car but when you go a size up it gets much harder!
We have 4 car seats - one for our car, one each for the nanny's, and a spare so I can catch lifts when needed.we haven't spent over £30 on any of them either
I've seen a tandem which looked good and the parents pushing it loved it too - its a joovy ultralight and instead of a standard seat for DS it has a little step seat where he can jump on and off as he likes. Brand new its about £240 but I've seen some second hand and I'm going to keep an eye out for any sales.Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Re car seats /bases /ISOfix - don't assume that all bases that stay in the car are ISOfix - they're not. My pram system has a clip on car seat that belts in, and I can (and will) buy the base separately (£40) to pop it onto which also belts in. There actually isn't an ISOfix option with my (Chicco) system.
Is there no belt in base for your Giggle, Claire?
When I was first looking, I assumed that the bases are the ISOfix -ness. It's only when I dug deeper that I realised this wasn't the case, it's just an alternative fixing method to seat belts

reg the car seat debate... are the ones that are secured in by seatbelt as secure as the isofix ones ? I don't want an isofix as baby will not just be in my car, he/she will also be in my parents, OHs parents and likely my friends so don't want to 'need' a fixed base as they won't all have one.... don't want to compromise on safety either though....0
