  • Well I had a lovely night, had to leave just as the star guest took to the stage but it's ok as I was quite cheeky and got a picture with him before I left!

I'm beginning to feel I've gained too much weight now - I'm up 11lbs, 3 of which came from the trip to Belgium and the gigantic portions plus pizzas shared over there!

Lost just shy of 5stone last year with Slimming World so at first the idea of weight gain was terrifying for me. Thinking I might go back to the Slimming World principles for maintaining so 2 healthy extra a portions (calcium) and 2 healthy extra b portions (fibre) and allow myself a few extra syns per day (maybe around 20 rather than 15). Just because I am feeling rather sluggish and it often helps me with constipation etc. Not aiming to lose weight but rather gain it healthily.

We're having an early gender scan tomorrow so that's exciting but also nerve wracking - I need to chill out a bit and believe baby is happy and sticking out the long run. Every twinge sets my mind off at the moment - does that ever stop?

Well all my colleagues who were also at the dinner last night have decided to work less hours today ('as we worked till gone 11pm last night' er yeah - being invited to attend for free an drinking all the free wine, getting a free dinner and enjoy some class acts is hard work and not at all a reward *rolls eyes*) or are taking it as a last minute holiday day so the office is deathly quiet. That's said I was actually in slightly early so may leave slightly early...will get my hours in though unlike some!

sjlou - I'm sure it's just as hard to gain weight as it is for us trying to lose it.......

con - hope you feel better soon. I'm desperate for a holiday but we preferred not to go abroad with DS so small, so it'll be a few years before we go too far again (we like the USA and Canada but it's a long way to go). Might end up in Centre Parks :rotfl:

kynthia - thanks for making me feel a bit better :) Hope you can shift your cold too. It's rubbish when you feel a bit under the weather.

faith - congrats on team blue :yay: what do you have now? I think you said you already have some kiddies....... And you're right, there are some really good coffee morning type groups with people looking to make new friends too :)

lush - glad you had a great night - are you allowed to share who the star guest was? ;) I'm still going to Slimming World classes but actually following MyFitnessPal using the free app. I'm still tracking calories even though I'm eating more than I should be, in the hope I don't go really off the rails....... :rotfl:

  • We had Clare Frisby (BBC Look North presenter), a local entrepreneur called Jacob Hill and Rory Bremner! We were also expecting Jack Carroll from Britain's Got Talent however he was ill so there was a last minute (just hours before guests arrived!!!) change to Stavros Flatley who drove all the way from London at the speed of light to be with us. They were lots of fun and got all of the men in suits (and women in their beautiful dresses) dancing along around the tables!

I'm going to find it hard going back to counting syns but I have indulged myself a little so want to remind myself to eat well! No longer have access to the website or app though so will need to find a way of checking the syns of somethings. I'm not a major one for too many sweets nowadays but each week I do have a treat, sometimes two depending on the week, so fingers crossed it won't be too bad.
Evening meals will become a little harder again I think as I'll need to account for the occasional breaded coating on chicken etc but I can go back to swapping chips for free mash and extra veggies.
I might do it so that each week I have 1 evening meal and 1 full day 'off plan' so to speak so I don't guilt myself in to restricting what I eat too much as often there is one day where it is impossible to prepare in advance (mainly when bf is competing) and we have a 'date night' each week too :)

Need to start munching sweet fruits again too like apples, all the oranges I have and pineapple!

Congrats on team blue faith! I think that's lovely as you already have two girls. I'd love one of each.

Lush - sounds like you should have taken advantage and had a short day today! Ha ha stavros flatley they were always funny to watch! Keep away from my house it's full of cakes sweets & ice cream they were the only things I could eat for a while! I've just polished off a Belgian bun..

Kynthia hope you're feeling a bit better sounds pretty horrible.

A whole new world then.... exciting!

lush - there's a slimming world thread on here and I'm sure the guys there would happily check syns for you if you needed to check something :) I think if it doesn't contain red or green stuff, calculating 20 kcals = 1 syn, it's usually not far wrong.....

  • thanks twigpig I used to be a regular on that thread but haven't really been checking in on there since I stopped strictly following SW, still use the 20Kcals=1syn thing in my head when looking for 'not so naughty' treats haha!

Feeling the stretch the last couple of days - hoping it's all positive and just baby getting comfier each day!

19 weeks today and really want to feel movement as not felt anything yet. Not unduly worried as I know many people haven't felt anything until 22/23 weeks however would like to feel just a flutter! Wondering if my placenta is blocking it? I also read that if you're on the bigger side to begin with it's often harder to feel stuff. Can't wait to get the scan in 10 days, just want to see it again!!

lushlifesaver, I'm still going to classes so can check syns if you need me to, just let me know!

Not much to report here... had a tummy bug and my back is achey. :/

20 week scan went well (when we got there, long story involving hubby being in the dog house for a whole weekend and lots of treats for me!) baby is all fine. We're staying team yellow! I would spend a fortune if I knew what we were having.

My stepsister has just given me a mobywrap... not something I had thought of buying but it could be handy and it was free. She doesn't get on with it so thought I might appreciate it. :)

Edited to say... I was so panicked about not feeling movement, but at the scan she said because my placenta is at the top then I am less likely to. 21+2 now and feeling slight flutters very occasionally.
